Default Shield 9mm Sear Lever

I have ordered my Shield 9mm (waiting on S&W to fix the latest recall issue), and have been reading the manual and watching YouTube. During field strip, S&W Manual says to manually manipulate the sear lever which allows the slide to be removed. I have seen others on YouTube pull the trigger to release the slide rather than manually using the sear lever. When pulling the trigger to release the slide, I notice a definite mechanical 'jump' in the slide as it is released. Question: is this really good for the slide release mechanism? Again, I don't have mine yet so I do not know how difficult or cumbersome it is to manually manipulate the sear lever rather than just pulling the trigger. Comments appreciated.
