I am new to the forum so this is my first post, and hello from FL. I have a new 9mm pro and loading the magazines is a pain. I would like suggestions on easier methods or aftermarket suggestions. Thanks for the input

Without a loading tool, you can put the mag base on a hard surface like a table top and press rounds in.

A much smaller and cheaper device is sold by Glock. Sells for under $10. A simple black plastic loader. I don't like Glocks, but I will admit liking their loader. Google glock magazine loader and you will see it. It will work with virtually any mag from .380 to .45 of any brand gun

uplula. worth every penny. I use one every week at our combat league to reload mags, sometimes 40 mags a night.

Nice to know others have the same problem. I got a 9c in May and can't load more than two rounds in either of my mags. Even loading one round is very difficult. Spring is tighter than an F350 spring. Wasn't sure if it the mag or my arthritis. Don't have a problem with other mags though.
An Uplula loader solves the problem, although it's a bit inconvenient to carry to the range. I'm hoping the spring loosens a little over time.

?
When I go to the range i've got the gun, mags, ear muffs, targets, stapler, ground mat and often a target stand too plus f course 200+ rounds of ammo.
Sometimes a spotting scope, chronograph and multiple guns.
An uplula is hardly inconvenient compared to all that!

Nothing until I meet the ones that came with my 9c. The spring is extremely tight. I offered two friends a cup of coffee if they could load 3 rounds in either of mine. I bought them the coffee anyway, although one did get two in.

I guess not but I don't carry all that stuff. I usually have my pistol on my belt, a box or two of ammo, and a few pistol targets. I use the eye and hearing protection provided at the range.
Inconvenient probably wasn't an accurate description. Although I'd probably still use the loader, I'd like to be able to load the mags without one. Not really a big deal. Just never be unable to load a mag before.

You might want to take the mag apart to inspect the internals, because if you can't get the last 3 rounds in something doesn't sound right with the mags. Either you and your friends seriously need to hit the gym or something is wrong with your mags (I'm thinking it's this). I've never had an issue loading any mags, including Glock or M&P mags. I've had a few friends that had difficulty loading mags that i loaded with ease, but they definitely needed to hit the gym.

The problem isn't with the last three rounds, it's the first three (and those beyond). No doubt a bit more time in the gym would be a benefit but I don't think it would solve the mag problem. I've taken both mags apart to see if the spring was in backward. No problem, they are just extremely tight. I can load my other two pistol mags without any problem and have never had a problem loading a mag in my life until now. Some have been a little tight but nothing like this.
There are gunsmith that shows up at our shooting range every Tuesday and Friday from 4:00 to 6:00. I'm going see what he has to saw either this afternoon or next Friday.

Get the UPLULA magazine loader which S&W supplies as part of the package with the "Carry and Range Kit."

I bought a Glock loader for 5 bucks and it works great on my SD or Sigma. No need to buy the expensive loader unless you like spending more then you need to.

Talked to the gunsmith. He said the mags were just real tight and would eventually loosen. He said a loader was the way to go. One of the mags has actually loosened to where I can get four rounds in it without too much trouble. The other is still like new.

Yes, I agree, the 9mm mags are the most difficult I've ever dealt with. Getting the first round started by hand is really tough. However, after the first round is in, the rest are easier. I think that first round is tough due to the follower shape.

Thanks for the help, I picked up a Uplula. This tool makes loading the mags a cinch. Now I'm off to the range to empty 'em.

Once your mags have had a chance to 'break in' they won't be nearly as difficult to load. My 9c mags (12 rounders) were a BEAR to load until I left them loaded for a while, then the springs eased up a bit to where I can load them easily by hand now, but that 1st round CAN still be a bit difficult.

The first round on the M&P mags is usually a little awkward compared to ther mags like Glock, but it still shouldn't be difficult to get it in and once the first round is in I've not noticed anything that would be different for rounds 2 & 3.
By any chance did you buy these mags new? If taking it apart to inspect it yielded nothing, I wonder if perhaps the feed lips are somehow bent. I bet if they were bent even a little it would make the mag difficult to load, especially the first few. Total shot in the dark and I could be wrong, but that's all I can think of...

I bought the pistol NIB this past May. Mags were new. I've had one mag fully loaded for a little over a month and it is a bit looser.
I do have arthritis and a bad index finger on my left hand. I'm right handed but the index finger is almost useless. Crushed the second from the middle knuckle to the tip a few years ago. That can't be all of it because I shot a 9c before I bought mine. Didn't have any trouble loading the mag. It's not a real big deal. I've got an Uplula and the mag seems to be loosing up a bit.

I never had a problem loading a mag either before I got my new M&P 40C. After great difficulty loading 9 rounds I couldn't get the 10th round in regardless what I did. All 3 mags are the same. I can load all 3 of my full size mags for my M&P 40 faster than 1 compact mag. Uplula loader fixed that & I can put it in my pocket. It sure saves time loading at the range.

Hello, this may not be the correct forum but does anyone have a source other than GB or eBay for 39-2 magazines? My 5906 could use one more 15 round magazine too! Thanks

My wife bought me the HKS mag loader for my m&p 9mm. Worked great at the range. Consider this speed loader as well.

If you like to spend money by the uplula. If you want to load your magazines and spend 5 bucks buy the glock loader. It works and you spend a lot less.I considered the uplula and tried the 5 dollar glock loader and it does the job.

I had a chance to use the Glock loader when I went for my state-mandated handgun safety class. It does work.
The Uplula works much more easily and faster, in my opinion. Given the cost of range time around here, it probably paid for itself by the 2nd range trip.
Either one is better than doing without.

My dad got a Glock and can't figure out how to use the included load assist device - the only way it seems to fit on the mag will compress the spring - but then it interferes with loading the round.
I vote for UpLULA - I have both the full size that works for .45 ACP and double stack 9mm type mags and the BabyLULA which works for single stack 380 type mags. Both are very easy to use and make getting that 10th 45 or 15th 9mm into the mag.
I also use other speed loaders and strip loaders - in some cases it is not only easier but also you don't end up with your fingers as dirty. I know how to and can load any and all of my magazines without the loaders they just make it so much easier.

Another vote for the UpLula...best tool ever invented for nancy-boy shooters! (I have two, by the way...one in the desk, and one in the range bag.)
Suggestion: when I buy a new gun, or get new mags, I load them to capacity, and let them sit for a week or so before using them.

YouTube is your friend.
Forgive the guy for saying "clip" and "bullet", he obviously doesn't know any better (and got an earful for it) but he does know how the Glock load assist works.

It's the right forum, just the wrong thread. Try Midway USA for 39-2 mags.
