Default BODYGUARD 380 TRIGGER KIT AVAILABLE

A Bodyguard 380 trigger kit is available from:

Galloway Precision

On the left side of the website, click on Bodyguard 380 Performance. The kit is shown, but does not start selling until tomorrow. There is no "BUY" button showing, until tomorrow. The description is as follows:

Short Trigger bar for Bodyguard 380 pistols

This is the much requested short stroke trigger upgrade.
-Custom made to our specs this will shorten your pull and reset by 40%.
-It does not lighten the pull but shortens it, making staying on target easy and follow up shots faster. No factory safeties are affected.
-After the early break the trigger will stop about 1/8 past break.
-Add a Profile trigger to the package and get 10% off the package. The trigger ads adjustable stops to remove unneeded pre-travel and over-travel for the ultimate performance setup.

Shipping 9/9 for sale 9/6

Our Price
$50.00

This is a reputable company and I have personally ordered many items from them, for my Ruger. They have a money back gurantee, if not satisfied.

Bob

I really wish it lightened the load by about 50-60%. I'd buy one in a NY minute.

Personally, I'm fine with the trigger the way it is. It feels just like a DA revolver to me. Besides, I really don't want anything that will AD in my pocket due to 40% less pull.

I been checking the Galloway site quite awhile for the modification. Haven't decided but am interested in seeing how it goes.

I'm not so much interested in significantly reducing the trigger pull weight (a little would be nice) as in reducing the breaking point by about 20 percent or so. When I practice my quick point and shoot I have to take care of where my non-trigger hand is or else it will interfere with my trigger finger. My problem is that the trigger break is so far back that sometimes I have to adjust my grip from my natural.

Reducing the trigger pull weight on the Bodyguard is difficult. Since the Bodyguard is hammer fired, the trigger pull weight is mostly a result of the hammer spring pressure. To reduce the trigger pull weight, you must reduce the hammer spring pressure. The problem with less hammer spring pressure is a better chance of light hits (no bang). Some of the Bodyguards have had issues with light hits. This issue has been mostly fixed with a lower pressured firing pin return spring.

If you reduce the hammer spring pressure, the hammer will not hit the firing pin with as much force. This then reduces the impact force of the firing pin hitting the primer. The less force that the primer is hit, the higher the chance of a light hit, which is not a good thing in a self defense gun.

Bob,
I'm not so interested in reducing the pull as in reducing the breaking point. I would not want to weaken the hammer spring. Not a big deal but I wouldn't mind it being a bit forward from where it is now. As I understand it, the new mods allow for some forward movement. Is this correct?

Hodgin reply

I am not a Bodyguard owner. I have a Ruger LC9 with the Galloway Precision trigger kit, and a Shield 40, with an Apex kit. This new kit will reduce the overall trigger pull about 40% less trigger pull distance, and will also move the break point forward about the same amount that the pull length is reduced. Guessing the actual trigger pull on the Bodyguard is about 3/4 inch to pull the hammer to break (not counting free-play / take-up), then a 40% reduction would be about 5/16 inch less pull, for a new pull length of 7/16 inch. That means the trigger break point should be moved forward 5/16 inch, and would no longer break near the rear of the trigger guard.

Galloway has always had a money back guarantee. If your not satisfied with their product, return the product for a full refund, less shipping fees. My stock LC9 had a terrible trigger pull, a long, deep breaking trigger. The kit cut the pull in half and moved the trigger break point 1/2 inch forward. I would expect those Bodyguard owners, that get this kit, to be as happy as I was with my LC9. A great improvement to my LC9.

Here is a link of the before and after of my LC9, sound is a little out of sync. It also shows my stock Shield trigger pull, before I added the Apex kit and a trigger stop:

I have two of their 7rd. mag guts kits for the BG380. Nice having that one extra round in a flush magazine. I think I'll wait for some reviews on the trigger bar before I make a decision since it's my pocket option.

I do like that they have a tool steel firing pin coming out, even though I've had no problems with mine.
