M&P CORE sights
So I just picked up an M&P C.O.R.E. in .40 with a 5" barrel. Took me FOREVER to find it! Anyways I want to run fiber optic sight in the front and a solid rear in the back. But because of the cut for the red dot the rear sight is different then just the regular M&P rear sight (pics below, 1st is the CORE). Does anyone know of a rear sight I can buy for the CORE that is all black like the dawson. Thanks in advance for the help!

If you have a real good buddy that is a good machinist you could have the rear dots filled in with a tig and machined back flush, then have the front sight milled and drilled for a fiber optic rod. Would be cost prohibitive to pay someone to do it, but worth a case of beer to a buddy.

Not sure I understand the question. I just blacked out the rear dots on my CORE with a Sharpie, works fine for me.

Not to derail the thread, but I don't understand wanting to black out the rear. I have a CORE, and a FS with FO front and black Warren Tactical rear, and I can't hit anything very well over 10 yrds with the FS.
Granted I use reader's (but not when shooting). On the CORE, the rear dots provides a fuzzy but perceptible guide for the aim.
It's frustrating playing "peek-a-boo" with the red FO front.

With proper thumbs forward grip you shouldn't have a hard time playing peek a boo with the sights.... A FO front with blacked out rears should be quick... People like blacked out rears because it makes your sight picture less busy, much easier to shoot both eyes open, kinda like having a red dot only you're using irons.

Problem is, I can't see the black. It's just fuzz, so my shots are typically high beyond 20 ft because I wait to see the sight.
Whether the dot is over the top of the blade, or inside the "U", it all looks the same.
At least with the CORE, I can level out. And I do use the two thumb forward. However, when my barrel gets hot, the weak hand thumb gets burned on the take-down lever, as that is where it rests.

Your thumb shouldn't be resting on the take down lever, your support hand thumb should be just forward of this. You may want to take a look at your grip. This may be why you're having difficulty picking up the front sight. With irons, only the front sight should be in focus, the rear sights should be a blur, which is why many of us prefer blacked out rears, it unclutters the sight pictures and simplifies the process of aiming (a good thing).

I can't focus on anything closer than 4 ft. The front sight just looks like a suggestion.
Unfortunately for me, my thumbs are short. I cannot even release the mag without changing my grip by 15 degrees or more to make contact. I've learned to use my support hand to release the mag as I reach down for another.
If I let the boney portion of my thumb (just behind the cuticle) touch just ahead of the lever, my index finger no longer wraps around my other hand's middle finger at the joint, and is floating.
I didn't realize how deformed my hands are. Looking at the pics, do you have any suggestions?
I get burned when running back-to-back stages, which is rare. Mostly, it's when I'm practicing on home-made stages or shooting steel alone.
Also, got my rear FO's installed. I was able to put the shots inside about 5" at 20', no glasses. Will work for IDPA.
Doc, thanks for your input. Sorry to the OP for the diversion.

If you can mic the dovetail and check it against a Glock, if similar you might get away with running a Glock rear sight because it doesn't need to reach further rearward like the standard M&P rear.. I don't have a CORE at the shop or I'd check it for you.

The only sight I know of that fits the front is from Dawson, but it fell off after 50 shots. As for the rear, it needs something straight up, and I don't know if anyone would be able to do something for it, as the FO needs some tube length to collect light.
With as many people buying these however, someone may get clever. I saw that Williams has a FO with a "U" shape FO tube, and so it is rather thin. Maybe since S&W has them on their "aftermarket" vendor list, they may step up.

Tried it, glock is too small. if some one would mic maybe a XD or another hand gun they have lying around that would be great!

I'm getting .272 at the bottom widest point on an XD Tactical we have here. Similar to the Glock.
What does your CORE dovetail measure?

I wish the XD or Glocks were bigger if anything. I could just mill it down.

Why don't you call upon Novak custom and see if they won't make Khoi what you want? They do all sorts of neat things and it shouldn't be too hard for them to build you some .350 tall sights that are checkered or tritiumed, or whatever.
