Default Shield/Apex/ reducing trigger creep?

I have a Shield .40 with an Apex kit in it. I have some unwanted creep in the final stage of the trigger before the pistol fires. This affects my accuracy and adds to limp wristing when shooting for accuracy.
Anybody know how to reduce the creep?
I've thought of several modifications...
1- Buying a new striker assembly and chucking up the pin shaft in my lathe and reducing the length of the sear contact point a few thousandths of an inch while keeping the basic shape of the contact point the same.
2- Adjusting (bending) the loop on the trigger bar assembly.
3- Reducing the height of the Apex sear so it releases the striker assembly sooner.
Anybody got any input on these ideas?
I read in another forum you can open up the loop in the trigger bar but reduce the radius at the end point of the loop. This makes sense and could be easily tried and returned to factory specs if it didn't work.
Thanks,
Rob

I've only seen people adjust the trigger bar loop. I have the same kit and don't notice too much creep

What do you mean by "creep". Are you referring to take-up? I have a Shield 40 with the Apex kit and have no creep. I have a short sear pull (about 1/16 inch) to a crisp break, with a short reset. I also don't know why the trigger pull would lead to limp wristing.

You pull the trigger back until you feel it start loading the sear spring. This is called take up. From that point until the striker is released is called creep. I have excessive creep and I want to shorten it.

So basically you're looking to change the amount of sear engagement in a polymer defensive pistol? Apex FSS and do the opening of the loop. Anything else is a waste of your time. I've got so little movement prior to the shot breaking that I don't notice it at all.

Apex doesn't make a forward set sear for the shield.
My FSS in my .40c has almost no creep. My Shield has a lot. I'm looking for some compromise.
I'll call Apex.

I called Apex and they hooked me up. They are sending me a new product not released yet for testing since I'm a gunsmith. FREE!
Expect some new products next year from Apex as well as a Forward Set Sear kit for the Shield.

When you get this new part from Apex, how about a few photos and explain what it does and how it performs, installed in the gun.

Your OP about creep, the possible way to reduce it is to change the sear loop angle. Since you are a gunsmith, you know bending the loop down will reduce creep (faster sear movement), at the expense of slightly higher pull pressure. That also raises the issue of running out of trigger pull length to get the sear to release the striker, as the trigger break point will get moved further rearward. What is your trigger pull weight? If you use the stock Shield trigger spring and sear spring, your trigger pull weight will drop about 1 full pound. My Shield has a 3 pound 10-12 ounce pull (used a Glock trigger spring which reduces the pull another 1/2 pound), and from sear pick up to sear break, the trigger moves 1/16 inch, measured at the bottom of the trigger.

Just installed the new sear from Apex as soon as it arrived today. WOW!!! Zero creep. Almost like the FSS in my .40c except this setup doesn't reduce the takeup travel much if any. The trigger blade goes all the way forward when it is fully released.
But when I pull the trigger and the takeup ends, it's like a glass rod breaking. SNAP!
I'm sure this sear will be out soon and it is a huge improvement over the previous Apex sear in my Shield.

Any chance of some side by side photos of the original Apex sear and this new sear. I would think they slightly machined down the top of the sear, for less sear to striker contact area.

That wouldn't be ethical Bob. This is a prototype I'm helping them test. I'm sure it will be out soon. Probably part of the FSS kit for the Shield due to be released next year.
Sorry,
Rob

So basically you have an FSS in your shield right now? Do you have any idea how many of us want to get our hands on that "prototype"?!?!?!?
