Default Shield Recall

I was just wondering about the Shield recall on the trigger getting damaged by the trigger pin. Has anyone had this happen to their Shield? I was planning on buying one. If no one heard about this here is the site.

Yup... A Few.
Scan the 1st couple pages for Subject Lines with the word Shield Recall (or Shield Safety Alert... a more accurate description ) in them. They should be relatively easy to find.

Haven't heard if anyone has gotten theirs back yet.

I saw a post somewhere where a guy got it back in addition to a free mag.

Assuming you plan to buy a new one, go for it. Dealers will have pulled any defective Shields from their stock.

I first saw the Safety Alert on Fri 8/23/13 and contacted S&W by their hotline number. It took almost 1 1/2 weeks to get the FedEx label which arrived by email on Tue 9/3/13.

I took the label to FedEx and got a free express box. I shipped it to S&W on Wed 9/4/13 and they received Fri morning 9/6/13. They shipped it back on the following Fri 9/13/13. I received it today, Tue 9/17/13.

The repairs were made and the trigger seems to be working properly now. No I did NOT get a free magazine. Door to door was about two weeks though I did read another post that they are now quoting 7-10 working days. I have not confirmed this.

The test fire date on mine was 7/8/13.

Some people are still waiting on the shipping return package/label from Springfield to send back their XDS.

At least S&W is somewhat on the right path.

I used the website Springfield had and got my label in a few minutes. It took three calls to the Smith hotline and almost two weeks to get the one for the Shield.

As much of a safety hazard as the XDS is compared to the Shield. I would expect Springfield to be on top of it much faster. But sometimes that just isnt the case.
