New Shield 9, bad feed ramp?
So, should it stay or should it go?
Feedramp damage on brand new Shield 9mm, Should it go back to S&W?

Although I have limited experience, I would say absolutely! It should go back.

Yes it does look like it either has some machining gouges or foundry imperfections. Either way it should go back for a new barrel. Send photos to customer service, they may be willing to send you a barrel with a return shipper for the defective barrel. Not very likely, but worth a try and you will not be without your gun. The gouges/marks should not cause a problem with your gun's function.

That does not look good. Send it back to get it fixed. I am all about fixing things myself, but that one needs to go back so they can see how bad they screwed up.

These sorts of problems never go away because there is noone intelligent doing the quality control on their machine tools and noone doing a final, overall inspection of the guns. By contrast, most german made guns go to a proof house for final inspection of quality.

Yes, it needs to be replaced. By not having it replaced, S&W will just think everything they ship out is satisfactory and no need to improve.
Hopefully you will be able to send back only the barrel and keep the rest at home.

Mine came from the factory with the same marks and it concerned me at first, but it runs fine. I later polished the ramp to a mirror shine with a Dremel and a felt bob attachment, and it still runs like a champ.
I'd be curious what S&W has to say about it.
