Default Fail to extract

I have a M&P 22 that fails to extract 1 of 10 Federal Auto- Match. After a round fires , the extractor seems to engage and the slide does not cycle. If I pull the slide manually, it seems much harder to pull than normal. If I pull the slide manually, empty casing will then extract and eject. Why does the empty case get stuck? Thanks for your answer.

Every problem I've ever had w/a .22 semi auto was ammo related so I'd start there and work out to the mags.

That's because the hammer is not cocked, which means the slide is not moving rearward enough to cock the hammer after the round fires, which means the round does not have enough power to blow back the slide adequately to cock the hammer and eject the round. Could be weak ammo or just a tight pistol, dirty pistol or improperly lubed pistol. Make sure you are lubricating not only the slide contact points, but also where the slide runs over the hammer to cock it. This is a high friction area that needs to be cleaned and lubed often.
