If you build it, we will buy
I know it's been discussed many a time, but I think it's good to offer reminders to S&W
1. Make a M&P that is a true g19 competitor. 15 rounds, 4 inch or so barrel. The m&p 9c is one of my faves, but would definitely add a mid-size to my M&Ps (have FS, C, Shield currently). I can assure you that sales are lost to glock simply for the g19.
2. Give the SD9VE a 6.5 pound M&P style trigger with less travel and shorter reset. Remember the trigger is the weak link in all S&W polymer pistols. Improving should be a priority. I would grab a sd9ve up in a heartbeat if it had a nice or even acceptable trigger.
Let's go S&W. Time to listen to your customers.

And while you're at it... I'd like a model 17, square butt, 10 shot, in blue with a medium rib (no lug!!), with walnut diamond, football target stocks. MIM parts are okay, but trigger needs to be .500 wide. The sights need to be WO on rear and RR on front. Target hammer is a must. A companion gun in .22 Magnum would be cool too.

There you go Mike!! Lol!
Maybe it's a little ridiculous to rant about things S&W doesn't do (or doesn't do well) when they are spot on in so many ways.
Probably best for me to keep voting with my dollars.

I believe a g19 sized M&P would be the most popular model they would make if they would just build it. I would sure own one to go along with my 4.25 Pro.

Question: What do you think about taking a FS 9 mag, removing the base plate/spring and cutting down to hold 14-15rds? Most likely the spring would need to be reduced accordingly (and may take some trial/error). Even w/ the pinky rest the short grip is my only gripe!
Thoughts?

Also considering using a X-Grip cut down to fit the smaller mag and fill in the space. Whatta think? Is it do-able?

Night sights option on a Shield would be nice.

I too thought about that. I think it is certainly doable, but probably not worth the trouble to get it right (and reliable). Even if you got it right using a 9c your reloads would still be a little awkward do to the short grip.
Who cares if the g19 sized m&p 40/9 would eat into 9c and FS sales. They would sell like hotcakes, and many would see use for all the sizes (pro, FS, g19, 9c, shield). For those that would only buy one m&p, they might as well have a chance to persuade some from a g19 purchase to the m&p platform.

I believe David Bowie has done some. Maybe Dan Burwell too.
I'm pretty sure that the mag work is what keeps the option off of their sites.
