M&P 45 and 45C Trigger Reset
I'm hearing the newer Shield trigger reset is being utilized in the M&P line but I have not heard anything for the 45 or 45C. Have they put the newer trigger in the 45 and 45C yet? If not, do they plan on doing so? I ask because my next purchase will be a compact 45 and the 45C fits the bill perfectly but I'm also a long time Glock shooter and used to that type of trigger reset.

Even with the updates, it will not be as positive a reset as the Glock. Still a better gun in my opinion.

Doesn't matter. Valuing the reset is a training scar, not a goal.

Some have and some haven't. S&W seems to be going through the old stock. Pistols get updated as parts are available.
No, using the reset isn't a "training scar".

People are trained differently, especially LEA's. We are trained on using the weapons reset and that is what I look for in a carry weapon. YMMV.

Check out apex tactical for a trigger kit. If you like the glock you will like apex. I got mine replaced as well as the sear and striker block. Love it, feels so much better and looks better too.

Visited the range this weekend with a FS .45 and a C model. The FS has a beautiful trigger (with kit installed) and the C is bone stock, made early this Summer.
In dry firing, the FS is amazing so light and very stageable. If feels easy like it should be easy to shoot. Not so much the C, as it has a trigger that feels very similar to my Shield. Not gritty at all or sloppy, just a lot heavier and the reset, while discernible, is not short or light like on the FS.
So... At the range, I have almost the opposite experience! With actually firing both guns, I found that the Apexed trigger FS was surprisingly the less enjoyable to shoot, trigger wise.
The C's trigger felt very useable and consistent to me. Made reproduceable shots easier to achive and it felt safer somehow. The light trigger on the Apex, I had to consciously lift my finger from the trigger between shots so as to prevent any unintended double taps. The recoil alone was almost enough to trip the trigger again if was not careful to avoid that.
Sure, the FS is a joy to shoot and the trigger kits do wonders, really, but I am starting to wonder whether or not the stock trigger on the C might actually be a better (and safer) tool for me to use. Might keep the FS as a range gun and try to learn that trigger better.
FWIW, I did find that the most consistent way to shoot both of these guns was to use the WHOLE trigger pull each time I want the gun to fire. Trying to stage the trigger for a more 1911 feeling pull is beginning to feel like a bad habit to have.
Of course, just my .02. YMMV

Dr.um,
I find your comments interesting. One thing stands out to me, this:

What do you mean when you say "stageable"?
When shooting any gun, staging the trigger is something to be avoided. It's so important to not do that, even S&W mentions it in the owners manual. The trigger should be actuated in one smooth motion.
Also, this:

This is something that is easily fixed, but not what most people think.
When you shoot, trap the trigger back. After the shot, hold the trigger back against the stop. Then release it in a controlled manner for the follow up shot. Because this is not a natural thing for most, it can take some time to learn. This is also why the reset is a valuable tool.
Maybe you're already doing this, it just didn't sound like it from your post. I mean no disrespect.

To clarify my post per request;
First on the dry firing comment, I believe that I picked up a new and bad habit when I started exploring the M&P line as a supplement to the 1911 platform with which I am much more familiar. I was trying to make the trigger feel like a 1911 trigger without modifying anything as much as my trigger technique.
In comparing my M&P's I have dry fired them both thousands of times. I think that, without realizing, I may have changed my muscle memory or something akin to that. By the end of the range session I described above, I was moving back to fundamentals (trap trigger, hold back, etc) and I began to do better by the time darkness set in.
In a nutshell, I got so caught up in examining and celebrating the trigger reset that I almost forgot how to fire a handgun. That will not happen again. I will learn from this experience.
Thanks for the advice and suggestions
D
