has anyone tested the shield?
I have searched all over the net, I just cannot find anyone that has done any real world torture tests.
Anyone know of any?

What do you have in mind for tests? The Shield has been out long enough in sufficient quantity to likely have encountered a number of different usage scenarios.

I was in my yard cleaning guns and the wife commented on my new Shield 9. When she ask how much she asked me why did I buy such an inexpensive plastic gun. On impulse I threw it in the pool and told her "that's why"!

Thousands of people have put tens of thousands of rounds through them and they are still one of the most sought after guns on the market. They must be OK.

I absolutely love my shield 40. I did add the Apex Tactical DCAEK!
Also put some Truglo TFO sights on her. Amazing weapon!

I know he's a pox to a lot of guys in the gun community, but James Yeager has a few videos regarding long term tests he's done with the Shield. He endorses them and even carries a Shield along with his beloved Glocks.

There is a long string on a forum you have to join to read. It's a well received pistol.

A bullet stuck in the barrel is not the fault of the gun.

That's squib round, nothing to do with the gun.

I watched the 7k round video and i believe Yeager actually states clearly that the bullet stuck in the barrel was from intentionally loading grossly under powered rounds. I think he says in the video he was deliberately trying to break it and was very impressed with the durability and quality

Yea. He mentions several times he used ****** ammo. I picked one up today. I certainly would not carry this gun. Barley fits in my hand. Although. My fn is too big to fit in wife's hand.
I am a little disappointed tho. There are two small scratches on the slide. And on the left none the less. Looks like they are small enough they could be buffed out, but I wouldn't know how without ruining the finish.
Now to figure out how to hide it from my wife till Christmas and get it to the families house without her knowing. And then figure out how to deal with my family freaking out.

Take it to the range after christmas. You may change your mind about its ability to be a carry weapon.
Lets see a pic of the scratches. Im sure there is someone that can tell you the best way to remove them.

It just doesn't feel comfortable. When I reject the mag my passion holds it in. And it's just so dang small. These things won't make a difference if it was a dedicated conceal carry, and in a defence situation. But I prefer OC anyway. Ill try to get pics. WIll be tomorrow at best. Gun is hidden from wifey. ****. Gotta hide the registration papers till I mail them.
Well the scratches be a warranty issue?

Chuckles. Didnt say i wanted MY gun to do that. i just want to make sure it CAN.
Think of it like safety measures in a car. You want to know that your car can take a 65mph impact with the passengers still alive. While most accidents are fender benders at more like 20 mph.
If i know my fns can take 10k rounds and function perfectly, can go through dirt and sand and function perfectly; if i know it can take that torture, then i know for a life protecting fact it will never fail without such abuse.
If a rapist has a gun to my wifes head, im not going to use a ruger that has a pretty good chance of breaking at that moment.
