incoming 45c
shipped today and now the wait. i feel like a kid when i get a new gun. is there something wrong? instead of seeking professional help, i'll put the money toward ammo and heal myself. 300 rounds of 230 grain american eagle will arrive, along with 50 rounds of hst hollow points. am i on the right path? i'm up for suggestions.

Congrats on the new bundle of joy. Sounds like you're on the right track, except you should have ordered more ammo.

Yeah, you'll be needin' some more ammo. You may have to get into reloading; I did. It's the only way I can feed my habit.

My first-ever .45 is also an M&P 45c. It fits my hand very well, feeling only slightly larger than my 357SIG M&Ps. Oh ya, that fitting very well does NOT happen with the 2 WAY-TOO-short magazines S&W includes with the pistol. It does feel great with the 10-round mags...
M&P Pistol Mags
(buy the 5-pack; one can never have too many magz)
...and the X-Grip gap filler
X-Grip Mag Adapter S&W M&P 45 ACP Full Size Mag to fit M&P Compact 45
...and your 45c will feel and shoot VERY well.

You may consider adding the pinkie extension to your existing mags. Contact S&W and they'll ship you 2 for free!
Oh, and forum member Ray at Lobo Gun Leather makes some fine holsters, too!

The 45c is reliable and not ammo picky. Fine firearm.

Pick up a couple of 14 round mags and use the xgrip spacers, midway has the 14 rounders on clearance right now for $27.28. The 45c is fun with 14 rounds!

Yes, I'm sure 14 round mags are fun, but they defeat the purpose of a small gun.

CDNN has been getting shipments of used 10 round mags. I ordered one with another order as I wasn't sure how "used" they were. I've since gone back and ordered more. The worst is some scuffs on the sides and some dings in the base. They all work great.

Not at the range or for reloads, I always carry my G27 with a standard mag but keep a G22 mag (and sometimes a 22rd mag in the car) for reloads, the same applies to the M&P. That's the beauty of the 2 platforms (Glock/M&P), you can use any of the larger mags in the compact guns to expand your capacity.

Great gun, congrats. This has been my EDC for several years. Be sure your new gun has blue magazine springs. If they are green or purple call S&W CS and ask them to send you new blue 10 round springs springs and followers. Yes they are now using the 10 rounders in the 45C. They will be happy to oblige. Good luck and good shooting.

The M&P 45C is an outstanding compact .45 pistol. I had one and let a buddy talk me out of it after he came into my old 65-5 that I wanted to get back badly. As a result, I went out and bought a G30S, deciding to give that new platform a try. The G30S was a great pistol, but I found that I preferred my 45C. I ordered a new 45C from Bud's Police Supply a couple of weeks ago. When it came, I realized I had ordered it with the thumb safety, which I don't use. I'm going to remove the thumb safety today and order the frame plugs from S&W when they're open again after the first.

That looks familiar....
This knocked my G23 out of the stable almost 2 years ago and has been my EDC since.
I added the Apex DCAEK and AEK and a set of Trijicons. One of my best shooters!
