Enjoy my 40C but...

I have a 40C, with 9mm barrel & mags. Love it as a 9 for target but carry as a 40.
s/n is DWB 70XX. Any ideas when it was made(shipped)?
What should I do to update/upgrade it?

put an Apex trigger in it, possibly some sights.

Depends on what you are looking to improve on. I would get crimson trace laser sights. & get rid of those 3 dot factory sights (unless u like them) & replace them with 10-8 performance sights. Ever consider stippling?

You can call S&W for the production date given the s/n. I have the Crimson Trace and think that's a great addition. In fact I had a 40c with a thumb safety and the CT would not fit, so I gave that 40c to my son and got another w/o the safety! I know I could have taken off one side of the safety to make it fit, but it's such a good gun I knew my son would enjoy it.
