Default Possible trading for FS M&p 9mm?

May be trading for a M&P 9mm that has a 2011 manufacturing date. Should I stay away from it or go for it. I know they did some updates in maybe 2013 and some of the older guns had issues. It supposedly only has 200 rounds or less through it. School me guys, feeling Leary. Jim.

I know from reading here on the Forum that some folks have experienced issues with the older 9mm's. I have 4-M&P's: 2007 FS 45 (bought used LNIB), 2010 FS 40 (Police Trade In from Buds), 2013 FS 9 (bought new 2014) and Shield 40 (LNIB 2014). I have had NO ISSUES with any of them! They are not Target guns (comparing to a tuned 1911), but are more than accurate enough as a Service/SD Pistol. I don't mean that in a bad way, there have been times that the accuracy of mine has really surprised me at the range! I don't shoot past 15yards/50' and groups stay around 3" off hand with any ammo I feed them-factory or reloads.

Depending on price and what you're trading for the M&P, I'd have no problem taking a chance on a used 2011 model M&P. Just my .02 cents.

I would be trading a Shield for the M&P 9fs. I have many carry guns and don't really carry the Shield and was just using it for the CCP class in IDPA. Really want a FS to shoot in USPSA and IDPA instead of the smaller pistol. Not sure if I should hold out and wait for a newer one or this one would be okay. I would jus buy one but in the middle of buying/selling a house that seems as it will last longer than I live. Jim

I'd maybe upgrade the striker. Or at least call and see if your pistol was made after the new striker.

Also I prefer the newer models with the rolled pin that holds the extractor. The solid pin is hard to get out. Sometimes even requires a press.

In reality, you'll likely never have an issue.
I'd just go ahead and get it.

I traded him last night and this thing has a great trigger. Now whether it will shoot straight is a different story. Love the feel and is what I was looking for. I will take it out and shoot it this weekend and let you know how it does. Jim

Use good quality ammo right out of the gate. Take your time; dry fire before going to the range to get used to the trigger pull/break. I really enjoy my M&P's-all of them.

I consistently keep my groups @ 5, 7 & 10 yards in 2"-2 1/2" off hand. 15 yards-around 3" off hand. I'm not a target shooter and I feel this is more than adequate for a service/SD handgun. (For me, anyway)

Can't wait to hear how your range trip goes!
