Default M&P SHIELD trigger question.

I have multiple M&P's 2 9c's, 45c, FS 9 and Shield. The only one that exhibits this is the Shield. If I dry fire the gun it fires great, but if I put downward pressure on the slide as I try to dry fire the trigger will not release the striker. Now I am guessing this is due in fact to the smaller size of the shield and clearance issues but curious if mine is the only one that does this. Thanks.

Sounds like there's not enough clearance between the striker pin and the sear block assembly. It may require replacing the lower if the sear assembly isn't seated deep enough into the lower. Do you notice that you can pull the slide end up at the back end of the gun? More so than the other M&Ps ? But in any event this is not normal and S&W may have to take a look at it.

It sounds to me like either the sear is not being fully retracted when the trigger is back or that there is a burr on the bottom edge of the striker where it engages the sear. Are the trigger and sear stock? Did this start after you or someone else tried tuning the trigger bar?

Pull the slides from your Shield and another of your M&Ps and look at the sears when the trigger is pulled. Does the Shield sear retract the same as the other M&P?

Thanks, after verifying here that this was not normal I went back in and readjusted the trigger bar loop and now the gun functions beautifully. The loop just needed a few thousandths more opening to engage the sear before reaching end of travel. This forum is the best...

Ta-da! I think the Apex installation video even mentions pressing down on the slide as a test of the trigger bar adjustment - it doesn't take much.
