M&P Shield 9mm holster
I recently got a durable Blackhawk plastic holster for my 9mm Shield for a deal ($10.00). I took it home and was so excited about having it immediately started working on quick-draw drills. However, I recently found out that there is a small amount of play left to right and this subsequently pushes in my magazine eject anytime I sit down or bend over in any way. Needless to say this holster is history for me, but does anyone have a suggestion for a good holster, preferably one that has an extra magazine pouch and has a strong belt clip?

Are you open to OWB? The Shield is small enough that it doesn't take much to conceal it. I cover mine with a light vest, (not a give away fishing vest), plaid shirt, etc.
Regardless, of which way you go, get a quality holster that will not let you down. Otherwise you will end up with a drawer full.

Murph, can you remove some material from the holster to gain some clearance for the mag release? Take the dremel to it.

I've got a Milt Sparks Versa Max 2 as well as a Crossbreed MiniTuck for my Shield. Both are great holsters but you will not get them instantly. Looks like Crossbreed currently has about a 3 week wait period while Milt Sparks is 10-16 weeks (but worth it!). I have also heard great things about High Noon Holsters although I don't personally own one. I really like my Crossbreed, but the Milt Sparks is the one I use the most.

INCOG.... Edge Works: HSP INCOG IWB Holster System
If you haven't carried appendix, try it. If you don't have a lot of table muscle (Belly) it is very comfortable and quick to set up.
I have for Shield, 9C and G19.

For IWB, do yourself and your wallet a favor and try a Harwell holster. The lead time is never more than 5 days as well. I have one for my shield and my 9c. For OWB, you can never go wrong with Galco, IMO.

My holster was made by Wright Leather Works in Ohio. They are great to deal with and the owners are personally involved in the manufacture of each holster. I also have their gun belt which is 1/4" x 1/12". My holster is the Predator in Walnut finish.

I purchase a White Hat Holsters ( http://www.whitehatholsters.com) Micro Tuck in jet black cow hide with a little bit of patriotism on the custom kydex. It is a hybrid IWB holster with some cool options and great workmanship. Extremely comfortable. If I remember correctly... Just over 2 weeks turn around with shipping. They also give a 10% discount for Mil, LEO, FF/EMS, NRA (leo10). $70 delivered. Tony, the owner, has a bunch of YouTube vids out about his product. I'll try and post pics this weekend.
Good luck.

I just ordered an IWB from Justin at Eight2Ten. Ridiculously quick service and he answered all my questions right away. I can't wait!

Ritchie IWB Hoster
I just received this IWB holster from Ritchie Leather Co. for my M&P Shield. It's there Nighthawk model. The owner use to work with Lou Alessi for many years. Great quality holster at a reasonable price. Took about 4 weeks to get it.

Thank you for posting this picture. I was looking for a quality holster for my new Shield, saw your photo, contacted Wright Leather Works and ordered my "Predator."

I'm was also interested in the High Noon Holsters, however, they have a no return policy on most of their holsters. I'd hate to sink that much money into one and wind up with a dust item. They also said they have no holsters for my 5 inch barrel. I'll keep looking. Good Luck.

I made my own from supplies obtained from knifekits.com.
One piece of leather cut to size
One piece of Kydex also cut to size
Heat Kydex in oven or with a heat gun until soft and slightly floppy
Press Kydex over firearm with foam or a towel or something that will conform.
Rivet or fasten Kydex to leather, trim excess bits, and smooth all edges.
Ta-da a very nice custom fitted IWB holster for a very reasonable price!
I'll post pics tonight.

Incog clip, bottom cut....super nice and really nice attention to detail.
all for a great price with overnight shipping!

I have 3 on order. I'm trying an RKBA leather, have that on order, I'm trying a High Noon Split Decision, and I have another kydex piece coming for my White Hat hybrid holster. Needless to say, I'll have a few options. In the meantime, I'm using my Remora built for a 3"1911, it works pretty well.

As promised, here are a couple pics of my IWB "hybrid" holster. It's super comfy stays put and has pretty great retention.
I've been carrying this holster for about 7 months. I lost one of my bolts and that's why there is a silver one.

I like the looks of this one - single clip, less leather width, tuckable, and has retention. As I've posted before, not a fan of the look of the hybrid systems with two clips. I may have to give this a try for IWB. For OWB, as another poster stated you can't go wrong with leather from a shop like Galco, Sparks, High Noon, etc - the Wright looks nice as well.

For IWB, I use a Remora or a Lobo Leather with steel clip. OWB, it is a Winthrop with belt slots. all were in stock items and were received within 5 days.

This is the one I'm currently leaning to. Is there any other one like it out there with as small an imprint as this?

Kusiak Leather is what I carry my Shield with. Attached mag pouch is optional, Single clip allows carry pretty much anywhere you like. I've got others, but rarely use any but the Kusiak. Check their website, see it it's what you have in mind
