Default Need immediate APEX trigger install help!!

Hi guys,

Last step in my install was changing the trigger. As you can see from the picture, the trigger bar hole does not line up with where the pin fromt he trigger slides through. What can I do? Is this an apex problem? Did they machine this trigger wrong?

Its in pieces so any advice you can give ASAP would be great!

I have no question that someone will be able to help you out.

I would call Apex for additional instructions or look up on UTube.

I am very glad I left mine stock on both my MP's!

Best

Bob

I don't remember having a problem with that, but I installed my Apex trigger last summer so the memory is a bit dim (I plead old age) I'd contact Apex (I know, why do things like this happen on Saturday night?) Good luck.

Mine went right in. Does the trigger bar not go in far enough? Wiggle it up and down in the trigger and put some light pressure on it. Look inside the trigger groove and see if something is in their stopping progress.

Yep that is the max it will go in. I've tried wiggling it in all directions and no luck. It's like the trigger wasn't machined enough

contact apex directly. S&W has made several changes to the m&ps. That trigger doesn't look right to me & may not be compatible w/ your pistol.

Sent them an email with the picture. Something is definitely not right with the trigger. The slot allows pretty much zero room for the end of the trigger bar. I am hoping it is just an issue with this trigger and not an issue with new M&P changes from S&W. It its just this trigger, hopefully they can ship me out a new one asap.

On another note, I installed the USB and FSS since it was torn apart and really like how light/smooth the trigger pull is now. I can definitely tell a difference. I just can't wait to put all the pieces together because I'm sure its even sweeter with the aluminum trigger.

Wouldn't that would alter the geometry of the trigger bar affecting the contact points of the striker block and sear?

I thought about that and actually took the files out and gave it a few passes. I think the remaining structure would be too thin if I got the clearance I needed. It isn't very thick as it is. I would try that as a last resort, considering a new trigger guard is cheap if I mess it up too bad...

Yes you would think that would move the whole trigger bar 1/16in. forward in the gun (towards to muzzle). I can imagine that would alter the mechanics of the sear.

your not altering the distance between the pivot pin and the end of the trigger bar by filing the front of the bar down to get to the pin.... This is of course the distance between the pin is not machined incorrectly from apex

It certainly looks like the Apex trigger is defective. Let us know what Apex says when you call them.

Spoke to apex. They said the trigger bar is supposed to "snap" into position in the trigger. I was pushing pretty hard on it trying to get it to gon in, but I'll give it another shot tonight. Fingers crossed...

Did you already partially insert the pin? Perhaps it's too far in?

Took the gun apart again to attempt the install with the new advice from APEX. Needless to say, it still wouldnt go in. No "snap" into place. I called APEX while it was in peices and they talked to the gunsmith. They are going to send me a new trigger and a prepaid envelope for the old one. Great customer service!

The one thing I would not do in this scenario is file on any S&W part or any portion of the firearm itself. If the directions do not call for the use of a file, then by all means, please do not use one. You may render the pistol unsafe. Unsafe means not only for you, but potentially unsafe for anyone around you while you are carrying or shooting the pistol in the event of dropping or some unfortunate accident that might exploit a "change in geometry" as one previous poster mentioned.
