Default Shield sear disconnect

Purchased a Shield in October, ran about 100-150 rounds through it, at the time I was pleased with the results, however, broke the weapon down as stated in the manual and the sear disconnect fell out. Sent it to S&W, got it back in 3 weeks, went to break it down last night to Frog Lube it and guess what? There goes the disconnect again! Come on S&W, this design needs to be changed, I realize I can pull the trigger to release the slide but as you know it's tough on the striker and a fatality waiting to happen! I smell a recall. I am not interested in sending it back again as it took nothing to break loose and I'm convinced it will happen again. I have 3 other non poly Smiths but have no interest in any other Smith products at this point, off to Sig!

Wow! You really got a bad one and that shouldn't have happened. As for a fatality waiting to happen, there have been plenty of arguments about that on this site for quite a while. I and many others don't use the sear disconnect and will never have a negligent discharge, as we triple check the chamber before disassembly. As for striker damage, it would take thousands of dry firings to work harden the striker shoulder to break it, especially with the new stainless strikers installed.

I don't see how the sear disconnect could fall out without the sear housing itself being removed. The pin that holds it in place cannot be moved unless the housing is removed.

Let's see. First ever post here. Slam S&W, promote Sig. Vague description of problem. No supporting pictures or other evidence.

Did I miss something?

This is the first time I have heard of this happening, recalls happen when problems are common.
