Default Shield Reassembly Issue

Having a problem with the reassembly of my 40 Shield. The slide wants to hang up a fraction of an inch before the the slide lock and take down lever lines up with the recesses in the slide.. Feels like it is hitting a hard stop, absolutely will not go back any further. If i keep racking the slide, it will eventually go back far enough to engage. I can not figure out what is stopping the movement. Anybody else have this problem?

The recoil guide rod needs to be turned a little at a time. and make sure it is centered on barrel. tell me how I know.

When you re-install the recoil guide rod & spring, make sure it is straight, both horizontally and vertically.
