Herters- aluminum case, nylon jacket
Have any of you guys used this ammo? I've seen it at Cabelas. Very reasonable price. I also read some very good reviews and a couple not so good. I'd like to hear from some on this forum before I try it. Nylon jacket?? , Aluminum case ?? Some is made in the USA. But others made in Russia.
Thanks everyone

Herters is just a name. They don't actually make anything, in fact I think Cabelas owns the name. They have different ammo manufacturers make ammo for them. Actually, even ammo manufacturers have other ammo manufacturers make ammo for them. Confused yet?
It's probably re branded Blazer.

I have used it for a long time and recommend it. I, too, buy it at Cabela's by the boatload. I have found it burns clean, goes straight and I have never had any issues with feeding or ejecting. Once I measured the overall length of the 9mm (several boxes) and found it never varied by more than +/-.001. Yes, dial calipers from my machinist days. Great target ammo at a fair price. Go shoot and enjoy.

Well if you read the boxes inside the plastic ammo can they say MANUFACTURED BY BLAZER. IIRC it is also on the corner of the sticker on the outside in small print. I peeled it off and tossed it as I wanted the clean can.
I Picked up a 500 rd can the other day.

It works. Some aluminum or steel cased ammo has a lacquer coating that can melt off and gum up the chamber a bit but that is usually caused by a few strings of very rapid fire . It cleans right out, but it is possible to cause feeding/extraction issues.

I ran a few hundred through my Sig and Glock and it was a very clean and pretty accurate round. Have not put any through my Shield.

I bought 250 rds of the 9mm a while ago, I've shot 150. Work just fine in my Hi Power.

Practice with what you carry
I understand shooting for fun and shooting for competition. If you carry a concealed weapon, shoot what you carry even if it is a dollar a round. If you shoot the cheap ammunition all the time, when you go to shoot the expensive stuff at the bad guy, you may make a mistake. Like calling your wife your girlfriend's name in bed. NOT GOOD.
After having said all that, I just bought 100 rounds of this stuff. It should work fine. I normally stay away from FMJ loads, but nylon should act like it's not even there.
It's the copper in the brass that makes it so expensive. Not some vast left-wing conspiracy. If copper price comes down, ammo will become less expensive

I had issues with their x39. They say it's rebranded Tula, but I've never had a problem with Tula. Out of a couple hundred rounds of their heaters, of various weights, I had numerous duds and squibs. So much so that I went back to cabelas and complained. Told them how dangerous it was to have a squib leave a bullet stuck in the neck of the barrel, I'm just happy the next round didn't seat. That would have went boom in a big way, cabelas actually took the remainder back and gave me a credit for what I bought. Never took it off the shelves though. About the same time there were several other similar reports online. The general thought was it was just a bad lot. Many others have shot it with out issue. Personally I'll never get it again but ymmv.
