Default impossible to find...

why are parts so dayum hard to find? took me forever to find a stock 9mm barrel. luckily someone here came through and i got one. big time props to the name i wont mention just in case he doesnt want it out there. he knows who he is

now trying to find a takedown lever retaining wire...yeah good luck with that!

it just seems like so many things which you would assume would be available just cant be had. ammo, parts, pieces.....do i need a golden ticket?

I don't know why but I too am very frustrated.
I've been trying to find a new M&P9 4.25'' barrel for a long time with absolutely no luck.
If anyone is willing to help me, please PM me.
I'd be very grateful.

Here is where you can get the take down pin retaining wire: M&P 9/40/357 & Compact Take Down Lever Retaining Wire [1755] - $3.30 : Welcome to Speed Shooter Specialties

Unfortunately, they're out at the moment. You can have them notify you when it comes in though.

The one you linked tat2dchad is a .45 not a 9mm.

I gave you that link for the part you're looking for specifically because you can be notified by them when it comes in. I've used that feature several times and it makes my life much easier.

i only became a gun owner around the '12 holidays when i was handed down an old Colt from my inlaws. Thought the reason I couldnt find any .22 ammo driving all the way back to SC from WI was due to the holidays. Then i realized it was more due to multiple reasons/excuses that continue now (and will be left out of this thread). I figured that's just gotta be a .22 thing, but as i recently became a M&P 9c owner and have been following the forums for awhile (and watching store shelves as well) i see at least for ammo even 9mm can be scarce. And often when i hit the various stores when we go back home to Wi to visit, i see even the gun shelves look a little slimmer.
Obviously I picked a rotten time to get into this sport lol.

back on point, you may have some luck at area gun shows, the $$ may be higher but you may find the parts you want now rather then wait for online stock to come in.

You're right Rastoff.
Despite they're being .45 barrels available, I need the exponentially more elusive 9mm 4.25'' barrel.

school years in the Marquette county area , 20+ yrs then in Madison area (daughter, son in law, and grandson there), and past 5 yrs we've been down here as we prefer a winter that is not cold and has no snow.

Used to hit the GB area, go to the Oneida powwows (wife is member) and take our daughter to Bay beach when she was younger as after all who doesnt like an amusement park where a ride is only like .20 each time lol.
Esp with having a grandbaby now, we find ourselves making the drive back 3-4 times a year. Gives me plenty of times to stop at various Bass pros, Academy sports, Gander Mt, etc along the way to 'browse'.

You may have to pony up the $75-$100 more for an aftermarket barrel. The good news is that I've never heard of any problems from them.

and i have heard a lot of good from the Storm Lake barrels. its not factory which was what i wanted...but if i couldnt find one $140-160 aint the end of the world. considering you could probably save that money on ammo in a short time

I got lucky & found a used 9mm barrel. When I received the notice of back in stock (.357sig) I immediately jump on it. Now for that very elusive take down lever retainer spring.

This may be too obvious, but, has anyone called S&W on the take down pin retaining wire? I mean, if you need one to get the gun working, they might be able to hook you up. They've sent me parts in the past.

Supply and demand. I blame the assault on the 2nd amendment and the increase in sales of all guns and ammo. I blame the internet and forums like this that convince me I need another pistol!
