Can I use the Glock trigger spring in one of my full size MP ??????? What will it do ?

UH...NO.

Why would you consider even trying?

They look the same and one site had that fix for a trigger job they are doing I thought I twisted mine changing to the new slide stop but all was well . They do look the same all for the cotton swab.

I will pick a few up just incase.

If it ain't broke...fix it till it is....

Look closer. Not the same design. (Hint - look at the "front" coil of the M&P trigger spring, the relative size at each end and how the hooks are shaped & oriented compared to the Glock coil trigger spring.)

As both a S&W and Glock armorer, I'd NEVER switch that (or any other spring, part, etc) from one make/design of gun to the other. I use the actual springs provided by the respective gun companies.

The fiber insert is not a cotton swab, but is a thicker solid fibrous plug that absorbs and dampens shock from shooting. (Just in case you weren't taking a certain amount of intended liberty with your description. )

If you own one or more Glocks, the latest revision of the Glock trigger coil spring is the one that's light grey in color. From what we were told in my 4th armorer class, the latest spring, especially when used with the latest revision of their trigger bars (to relieve stress on the 'front' coil of the spring), may well prove to be a lifetime spring. Optimistic. This contrasts with an earlier recommendation (Gen3 & older) to replace trigger coil springs at 5K round intervals (as a 'wearable part') in LE .40's, in an '08 list provided by the company.

Last I heard in my last M&P armorer recert, they still recommended replacing the trigger spring at 5K rounds (but they've also been reported as lasting longer). S&W has often taken a very conservative approach in some of their armorer service recommendations, though.

Yes you can use he Glock trigger spring. It is slightly different and doesn't have the damper, but it will work. I have a standard Wolf made Glock spring in my Shield. I wanted a lighter trigger pull. The Shield with an Apex kit, but keeping all the stock Shield springs is a 4 to 4.5 pound pull. By replacing the stock Shield trigger spring with the Glock spring, my pull weight dropped almost .5 pound. My pull weight, measured with a Lyman digital trigger gauge, was 4 pounds 2 ounces, but with the Glock trigger spring it is 3 pounds 10-12 ounces, just where I wanted it.

Great logic to apply to a firearm...

You can use the striker spring from a glock as an "extra power" spring for the m&p... A spring is a spring if it had a similar rate...

There's arguably a bit of a difference between ...

"I'm on the other side of the world, away from civilization and maintenance support, and I have to find some spring to try and keep my M&P (or any other gun) running to some degree until I can get the right part" - commonly called field expedient - versus ...

"I'm bored and wonder if I can use different parts than the engineers designed and intended to be used to let my gun operate safely and optimally, especially in adverse conditions."

Mine was good to go I didn't need to replace . I have spare Glock stuff but not much MP .

I always love questions like this. Why ask if you're going to ignore the advise from the most qualified people?

Look, just because you can do something doesn't mean you should. What Fastbolt said is spot on. If you're in the jungle and your life depends on it, then by all means, do whatever it takes to get your gun working. None of us are in that situation. It's quite rare that the spring in question breaks. in fact, I've never heard of one breaking. At least, no one has reported one failing on this site. If it does break, I'm sure S&W will send you another for free. Why go through the gyrations of trying to fit a part from some other gun?
