Shield Holsters
Realize this is kind of a fluff thread and may have been done to death in the past but what are you all using to carry. I like what I have but am always looking for something more comfortable. Pics of what I have now are. 1. Winthrop owb. Least expensive and most comfortable. 2. Tucker gun leather snap on DDOO. 3. Garrett tuckable Silent thunder Fusion iwb

I have a comp-tac mtac and a pjholster kydex iwb option for my Shield. I was thinking about trying that Garrett Industries silent thunder fusion for my HK p2000sk. Right now I'm using a comp-tac that I added a suede backing to, but I've been eyeing the GI holster for a while. How do you like it with the shield?

I use a N82 for IWB carry of my Shield. Very comfortable. Conforms well to body, but can draw without issue. Little hard to reholster with the "original" version, but their "professional" version reholsters smoothly.

I use the MTR Custom Leather dual carry. It's form fitted to the Shield, reholsters easily, and is comfortable and tuckable. I usually carry IWB but have used the OWB option when dressed heavy for cold weather.

I have an aliengear. I like it. Price was right. It is a little difficult getting it on and in the right position at the start, but then it is good to go.
I don't carry all the time. I work at a university, so during the week, and am back and forth to work, I don't carry.

I like the Garrett, thought it was going to be to stiff with the Kydex but it is VERY comfortable for my body type once it is in. Super easy to re-holster. I do find it takes a little time and adjustment to get just right.
Thank you all for your posts. I have been Goggling like crazy your holster choices. I have a bookmark folder with at least 40 different makers and a lot of these are new to me.

I have 2 TT Gunleather holsters. 1 shown here for the shield and 1 for a 3" 1911. Super high quality, right up there with milt sparks. Have a 10 year old sparks for a 4" 1911 which still looks and carries great. The Winthrop is also nice. Not as fitted or as high quality but my most comfortable. both owb and iwb. Have one for a 642 that makes it completely disappear while wearing.

I have been very happy with N82 pro for my compact, turned a friend onto them and he loves it for his 40 shield. Top notch customer service too.

Foxx Trapp kydex IWB with extended slide guard. Light, thin, small and sits well between 4-5 o'clock.
Edit...and tuckable.

Just got me a little foxx today. Helps they're a mile from my work...
After using an Old faithful from 2 to 6 o'clock, and everywhere inbetween, just not comfy.
Single jclip and this felt comfy standing, sitting and driving at 3 to 4 o clock....and not as bulky. 40c btw.

I have 3, An Uncle Mikes, Aliengear and Hidden Hybrid Holster.
Now this is just my opinion.
*Uncle Mikes,
Pro's- cheap $ and very easy/comfortable to wear.
Con's, can not reholster easily.
*Hidden Hybrid Holster-
Pro's medium priced $, small in size, 6 day delivery, excellent fit Kydex just a more quality piece, thick leather with suede backing= Very comfortable to wear.
Con's- non IMO
*Aliengear
Pro's-cheap $, thicker kydex (but) not as form fitting as the HHH, thinner leather.
Con= 6 1/2 week wait and poor communication as to delay, larger by 2" than the HHH, horrible smell of shoe polish that took 4 days to finally go away.

I almost ordered a Ctac from comptac for my shield seeing as I love the one for my 45fs. But I wanted something that I could use to carry both appendix and at 4 o'clock so I ordered an Onyour6 holster and a mag carrier. I figured at $30 if I didn't like it that much its no big deal.

I recently started
using the N82 pro. I'm Liking it so far, Comfortable, positive retention, easily released on gripping. I really like the Polycarbonate (Lexan) replacing kydex. Glad I got it.

I've compared my HHH to my brothers AG, and I have to say I agree. Theres an attention to detail that make the HHH worth a little extra dough.
I also have a Pro Carry HD from The Holster Store. Its a form fitted single clip all leather holster that is form fitted specifically for the shield. It has a reinforced opening that allows for one-handed reholstering. Fast shipping at a very good price.

So a question to those of you with kydex that have a sweat guard that covers the safety, does yours disengage the safety upon drawing? I just got my holster and after doing some practice draws, I noticed that it would sometimes take the safety off. It has a slight forward cant and it seems it does it if I draw the Shield slightly toward the cant. Is this by design? Or did they just mold it a little too close to the safety?
I'm wondering if I should slightly dremel out a little of the kydex so it doesn't interfere with the safety.
Just to add, it doesn't seem to do it when holstering no matter what angle I holster it.

If you are planning on carrying In The Waistband, (IWB) a great choice in holsters is to go with Kydex because of you being able to unholster and reholster your firearm without it collapsing.
Check out On Your 6 Designs. Fantastic products. Very affordable. Very fast shipping. Your order will be shipped right to your mailbox in just a few days. And they come with a Lifetime Warranty.
I am so impressed with thier Kydex holsters that I have completely stopped using my Crossbreed, Alien Gear, and Hidden Hybrid holsters all together. These hybrid style holsters are too big and bulky and are too hot to wear in the warmer weather.
I have also recently ordered a couple of (OWB) holsters for use at the range along with some nice Magazine holsters as well.
I do not work for thier company nor do I get paid to advertise for them. They do not send me free products or discounts. I feel strongly about thier products and do not mind spending my hard earned cash on something that quite simply just is great and it works like it is supposed to.
Check them out.....On Your 6 Designs out of Texas. Good videos to watch on thier website to tell you about thier line of holsters.

I ordered an Onyour6 on friday. Didn't really know about turnaround time but heard it wasn't more than a week or so. Looks pretty good and at $50 with a mag holder and shipping, the price wasn't bad at all.

I like PJholster.com for pretty much all my carry guns. Since it doesn't weight much i do not prefer the double clip. Single clips are easy on easy off imo. If you like hybrids check this out! Can't beat the price! Inside Waistband Holsters - products new home - The Minotaur MERC Holster

Currently using the Galco King Tuk, but am thinking of trying something a little smaller/single clip design, like an N82 or Foxx Mini or similar.
Buddy carries in a Hidden Hybrid and speaks highly of it as well. He bought it solely b/c is can be used both IWB and OWB.

I have been very impressed with Ozarks Holster after trying 4 other hybrid makers(including those mentioned above). Ozarks has best materials, best workmanship and attention to detail. The owner and person who makes these holsters is a full time cabinet maker who does holsters part time, resulting in a smaller profit margin and lower price. Selection is limited, specializing in Sig Weapons, but the Shield and others are included. I really like the comfort of the "Solo" and how it really conceals as both standard and tukckable IWB. I have the Wright Leather Works, LLC Predator in walnut stain. When I wear jeans I carry it on one of their gun belts, a 1/4" x 1 1/2" solid one piece bull hide. When I wear shorts I carry it on a Wilderness Instructor. A proper belt plays just an important role as the holster.

I ordered a Wright holster and belt in Feb. How long did it take to get yours? I am at 10 weeks and was told to expect around 12. I was wondering if that lead time is still good.

My Garrett Industries Silent Thunder IWB just arrived today.
Outstanding quality and workmanship. Will give it a "road test" tomorrow and report. I gotta say that I love the leather lined kydex construction. Quiet. Great retention. Adjustable.
Expensive....but may just be worth it.
