There might be another problem. I am a heavy computer user for work and 15 years ago I injured my hand. The constant computer work did not allow the hand to heal and I developed sharp pains in my hands while shooting.

It was inflammation problem.

You might have another issue that the shooting is aggravating.

I found I could not shoot my glock 19 without stabbing pain. I had to rest my hand and found I needed a minor surgical procedure.

Get a HOGUE HANDALL grip. It makes a big difference. Funny, I think the Shield has less recoil and is easier to shoot than the Glock 19.

There could be another problem, as we get older, Arthur Rightis keeps trying to aggravate us!

This is the first thing I add on smaller pistols.

At that point get a bigger pistol.

Small pistols really require a bit of technique to shoot them. A positive is that it should improve you large pistol handling.

I hate my keltec p3at but I do occasionally put several mags through it. Last time I ran a box of copper SD ammo through it to check reliability and drew some blood on my trigger finger. With that pistol grips don't seem to make any difference its so small.

The Shield was never intended as a range toy. It was designed to be carried a lot and shot a little! You can't put a Buick though a key hole either!

My hands can hurt before a range trip, and can feel the same after regardless of which handguns i take along (22 and/or 9’s). I did just add a Hogue handall to my shield, seemed to help a little. Put it his way, my hand hurt no more after my range trip yesterday than before.
So as the aches and pains of getting ‘mature’ continue to creep in, i have no issue adding on grips or whatever if it helps me out. After all, i enjoy shooting all my guns whether they are intended for being a range piece or not. If i can’t run as many rounds as i want thru one for practice or fun, no reason for me to keep it.

Long story short lol, adding a grip can be a cheap way to help a little.

Get a hogue 18400 grip. I've shot my shield without one for a year now and after adding one the difference is night and day. While I don't shoot it a ton on the range, I always felt like after a sweaty hand the gun wanted to cant in my hand. With the hogue that's all gone. But your hand shouldn't hurt with proper grip. So I think this is a personal issue.
