Does this Shield barrel look normal to you
Hello, Just picked up this 9mm shield and noticed while cleaning (haven't shot it yet) that while looking at the muzzle of the barrel it seems out of shape or not round. None of my other handguns from any manufacturer (including Smith) look like this.

Build 'em fast and cheap, shoot one round.
If it holds together, ship 'em out.
Just my opinion, of course.

Per your image, the barrel is round (77 pixel circle) and is riding low in the opening for the slide. If you lift the barrel up slightly, it will center in the hole. The optical illusion is due to two circles not being centered and a slide that isn't perfectly square.

The crown is not rough like the past problems but it just seems weird to me.

I can't really see an issue. If it shoots fine, and functions fine, sleep well.

I'm talking about the inside of the barrel ( lands and grooves) not its relation to the slide

Not really worried, I've just never seen a barrel that looked like that before. Just didn't know if this is the norm for the Shield

that's the rifling process... inside the bore of the barrel

The inside looks fine dimensionally based on what I can measure. The rifling kind of makes it look odd but the lans are true in verticle and horizontal measurements (limited by low image resolution). As I noted earlier, I think its an optical illusion caused by 5 grooves in kind of a star pattern. The one in the lower right of your image isn't as pronounced as the other 4.

Thanks for the input. Hope to get a few rounds downrange this weekend! Gun feels great in the hand and they seem to be very reliable.

That's how it should look. It's polygonal rifling vs. regular.

Mine is identical to yours. I have 4,000 FLAWLESS rounds through it. Happy Shooting, my friend.

Shot it today. Fantastic little shooter, really like it. The question now is I am ordering some night sights and wondering if I can install them myself. Anyone here try it?
