Sell/trade .40 Shield for .40 M&Pc?
Hello,
I have not posted on here in a long time so I thought I would come back for some expert advice. I currently have a .40 Shield that I like but lately I have been thinking about the M&Pc. I can't afford to have both so it serves double duty as ccw and home defense. When I carry the Shield it disappears IWB and I'm not a big guy (5'10 160lbs). I know that the M&Pc is thicker but otherwise pretty similar in the other dimensions (higher round too) as the Shield so it might print a little more than the Shield. I've also read about some catastrophic failures with the .40 Shield but haven't seen anything about the M&P doing that. So, do I keep the Shield or trade/sell it for a M&Pc?
Thanks in advance

Is it comfortable? Keep it.
Do you shoot it well and feel comfortable with it? Keep it.
Are you unhappy in any way, shape or form with your Shield? Sell it.
But I would rent and put 100 or so rounds down range first with a .40c (I own a 40c and 9c) before I swapped.
Also, aside from the loss you'll take on your gun and price you pay for a new or used 40c, you'll have to get a new holster as well...so throw that in the mix.
For any catastrophic failure, if it indeed is legit, there are thousands upon thousands of perfectly firing...and more importantly, happy customers with their Shields.

It is one of the most comfortable guns I have ever shot or owned (My Ruger .357 Blackhawk being the most). It shoots well but I tend to hit low and left from where I'm aiming. I had not planned on buying another .40 pistol and had sold my G23 because it beat me up whenever I shot it but the price was right ($379 at a gun show)The Shield feels as though it kicks less than the G23. My only real concern was magazine capacity but I guess buying extra magazines would solve that. Looks like I may have made the decision. Thanks for the help!

I just put an order in for a shield 9 and I have an mp9c. The grass always seems greener on the other side, it seems. I plan on keeping the mp9c, but I want something a bit more comfortable for iwb carry. I say wait until you can afford the 40c without selling the shield. They can serve different rolles with their difference in size and capacity, and are both worth having if you can afford it

Low and left at at how far and how much?
6/7 rounds vs. 10.. Yep, carry another mag.
Unless you're law enforcement/soldier/etc., I don't see any need for 8000 rounds. If you have to get into a gun fight where that many rounds are required...I think you're up a creek to begin with.

Keep what you have and save up for the other. In the meantime you can carry a spare magazine or two since they are fairly small in size.
It's good to have options for carry and home defense, especially if you only have just the one piece right now.

I am the exact same build as you are and I own both the compact and the shield. The compact is a little tougher to hide but not terrible.
The thing that makes the biggest difference to me is the weight. After wearing the compact for a couple hours it starts to bug me. My back hurt a little the next day. It's not a lightweight by any stretch. The shield is lighter by a significant amount (to me anyway) and its more comfy.
My compact is relegated to winter carry in a kydex belt holster that supports it better.
My Galco King Tuk is perfect for my shield....it fits the compact also by the way!

I too own both. I would have to say the 40c is more fun at the range & a lot easier to shoot accurately. But for CC & self defense distances, I want my Shield. Its just too easy to carry!

The shield is about 3 oz lighter, plus the weight of 3 rounds. So...1/2 lb at most.
It's the thinness...
