Default Thoughts on the 1:10 twist ported barrel?

Just want to know what you guys think about the 1:10 twist barrel being offered on the new performance center ported M&P.

Some people think the ports on a 9mm is unnecessary but Im mainly concerned about the twist rate and bullet selection.

Correct me if Im wrong but isn't the faster twist rate better suited for heavier bullets ie: 147g? Or longer bullets?
Ive also heard of 147g bullets having problems with malfunctions.

What are yours thoughts?

Thanks,

The 1:10 barrels are mostly to accommodate people shooting the 147gr at speeds barely making minor power, who have been very vocal. I have the slower twist M&P Pro barrel, which slow twist is common to all the aftermarket brands.
IMHO, with any of the quality bullets 115, 124, 147 shooting normal targets at normal pistol distances at normal speed, you will never know the difference. Long range, air rifle speeds, or "special" loads, maybe. I shoot 124gr Precision Delta at 133 PF for IDPA and USPSA.
Unless a bullet is truly awful, bullet selection in 9mm is way down the list of accuracy concerns with most 9mm pistols, which are not noted for bullseye match accuracy anyway. A friend who is an IDPA Master shoots the bullets of whichever company is sponsoring him this year, with good results from all (I try most of his loads). He does favor the heavier bullets at minor power.

The ported barrel on your gun suggests some will load it to major 9 and put on optics for USPSA Open Division. I'll leave comments on that to others, as I don't shoot Open Division.
