Seven pounds is "heavy?" You are kidding, right? If you had learned to shoot with DA revolvers, you would appreciate a 7 pound DA pull.

Didn't send it back and didn't buy an Apex kit.

I have no problem with my Shield 9 trigger pull. It's even, and has a clean break. What more could I ask for? I bought it as a carry gun, not a target gun. Won't notice the pull weight if I ever need to use it.

I run the Apex Carry Kit in both of my Shields. They include a heavier than factory trigger return spring. The hardest part of the installation is the removal of the rear sight to install the polished firing pin safety (done for me by Novak's when they installed my sights).
I have a no-safety Shield waiting for me at my dealer's for pick-up, and another Carry Kit waiting for it.
The assumption that a hard/heavy trigger won't be noticed is just that-an assumption. My Shields have proven to be very accurate out to even 25 yes, so outside of touching distance, a better trigger allows a better shot.

hardly reply to trigger lb. pull threads, it's their weapon to do whatever. my 2 cts., have practiced this at the range. used a rev. 1st. then shot a pistol. it seems to deal w/ flinch problems. you never relize but people haveing problems shooting their weapons are watching you shoot @ the range! a few times while shooting a semi auto pistol single action, it is a slight distraction dropping the hammer after every shot, it helps muscle memory shooting single action. members will ask to watch them shoot, give suggestions. cuts down my range time, but to help someone, and in 20 min. they get a smile on their face. range time can be tommorrow. when in the service, you learn to adapt to the weapon issued to you. from grease guns, rifles and pistol. practice, w/ different weapons, trigger poundage is hardly noticed! oh ya, been double tapping for 45+ yrs., another trainning aspect.

I got the Apex carry kit and the Apex trigger, the trigger added a Glock like safety. The results were great. The whole kit is $159.95 at Brownells or order directly from Apex, they're a great little company with amazing service. That kit and a $50.00 pair of sights from Williams Sight Co. made my Shield a fine little gun!

mine has improved greatly in just 375 rounds and lots of dry fire practice (probably around 1000 pulls) If it hits the 500 round mark and isn't smooth and crisp I'd be surprised.
