Leupold Deltapoint 2
Has anyone seen or purchased a new deltapoint 2? I was told by the leupold company that the release date was July 5th, I have been looking everywhere online to find information on buying 2 of them. I have 2 wholesale companies trying to get me the deltapoints, they are not hearing anything on them. Has anybody heard anything?

is the DP2 a myth
I work down the road from them and been asking WHEN for a long time, I'm starting to think that have the Bugs been worked out or not?
Why is the date getting pushed back each time I ask.

So did you or did you not talk to Leupold on the 8th of this month like you said in the other Deltapoint 2 thread?
Thumbs down Deltapoint 2
I just got off the telephone with leupold technical assistant people. This is what they told me about the delta point 2, they are NOT going to make any DP2. They have designed a few more goodies in it and now they are calling it DELTAPOINT PRO. It will not be in production until sometime in 2015. I think that is a bunch of B***S*** they figured out they were not asking enough for the DP2 when they kept saying it will be same price as DP1. I am really disappointed in leupold. I guess I will have to buy something else. Guess what leupold I was buying 2 of them not now.

What??? I ordered one from Optics Planet about a week ago. They said it should come into them on the 15th of this month. I'll have to give them a call on Monday and see what's up. If it's true about Leupold not putting out the DP2 as per their advertising, then (blank) them and the horse they rode in on. I'll buy something else.

Well I confirmed everything myself today. Leupold will not make the DP2. Instead they'll make the DP Pro. Supposed to come out in March 2015. Which probably means summer of 2015. What a crock. The rep at Leupold said there was technical problems (yea right). Asked about pricing and was told they don't have it yet. I also spoke with Optics Planet where I ordered the DP2. They have heard the same thing. Pretty bad business. Guess I'll get something else.

To look at this another way, maybe it did have some technical problems that showed up late in testing (after they made the announcement). Maybe they decided it would be better not to sell it and then have to warranty every one of them. I think other manufacturers would be better served doing this instead of using the customers as it's "destructive testers". GM would be money ahead if they had used this method.

Diplomatically put.
In the mean time I ordered the Burris FF3. Got it at Overstock.com for $189 and free shipping. I'll play with that for a year and go from there. Might even get into some serious shooting by then.

Official Email from Leupold
Dear Valued FED/MIL Customer,
During the development of the Delta Point 2, technological advancements led to feature improvements which were incorporated into the Delta Point Pro. These innovations in the Delta Point Pro superseded those in the Delta Point 2, making that product redundant. In keeping with our commitments on the Delta Point Pro, Leupold will be fulfilling our US Military and Law Enforcement orders first. In the meantime, the Original Delta Point will be available in early December, and we hope to have the Delta Point Pro available for commercial sales in Spring of 2015. All current orders for the Deltapoint 2 will be cancelled. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. If you have any further questions, please contact a member of the Tactical Sales Team.
Attached you will find the most recent FED/MIL Price list reflecting these changes.
Thank you for your service, and thank you for choosing Leupold.

moving on
I used the DP , and sold it in anticipation of the release of the DP2. After the long wait and to have this happen, I will be moving on and mill off the .030 needed to mount the same Vortex Red Dot that JM is using.
Thanks again Leopoop.
