Default M&P 40c jammed

First trip to the range was very disappointing. Jammed on the 3rd round and the 8th. Tried different rounds and jammed on 5th and 10th. Now no rounds will load. Now s&w has it back for their summer break. Guess it's gonna be there awhile. Hang out with glock heads and have to listen to all their ****. Maybe I should join em.

When you say "jammed" what do you mean? A pic would be helpful if you have one.

I have a MP 40 c which I purchased after firing a friend's gun and being so impressed with it. My M&P 40c was my first polymer gun and my first 40 S&W. I have put thousands of rounds thru it without the slightest hiccup. I liked it so much that I went and bought a full sized version. They are both quality pieces and go to the range every week. Not only are the guns accurate and fun to shoot but the forty is easy to reload. I've been a handgunner for over fifty years and own lots of DA's and SA wheel guns and a number of .45 and 9mm autos. I really like these new M&Ps.

Need more info in your post. Is the pistol new? Did you clean it before firing it? What kind of ammo? Were they reloads or new in box? What type of jam are you describing? Did it FTF(Fail To Fire) or (Fail To Feed), Double feed? FTE (failure To Eject) Did the rounds not load into chamber? More details will help us help you. You give us very little detail and moan that you should join the Glock heads. These M&P pistols are great. Even people who have had problems have gotten them fixed. I haven't used S&W for any warranty work yet. Others that have had use the service have had good reviews about S&W service.

Default My letter to S&W

First trip to the range on Friday July 25th was a very disappointing day. 1 mag loaded with federal premium 165 grain hst and 1 mag loaded with hornady 165 grain critical defense. The federals jammed on 3rd and 8th round. The hornadys jammed on the 5th and 10th round. Now neither round will load at all. Gun was real sluggish and very slow. Looking looking at the spent shell casings looks like firing pin may be dragging, bent, or damaged. Looking where the firing pin strikes the round looks bad to me also. I had high hopes on this gun being my everyday carry but not sure of its dependability. I would be very grateful if the good people at S&W would check it over and assure me of the reliability that I expect from any S&W firearm. Thanks

I have several S&W firearms and never had a problem with any of them. I'm sure they will make it right and send it back. Gun was brand new and yes I did clean and lube it first. I just hate the wait.

You still haven't defined the word "Jammed". Did the fired shell not eject properly, did it try to double feed a round, did the slide lock open with rounds in the magazine...what was the exact sequence??

All cases fired from any M&P have a tear dropped indent on the primer. The breech face is designed that way and imprints it's mark on the fired primer. Many people mistake this mark as a dragging firing pin, which it is not.

I have the gun, originally had an issue with a reloader I was using.
It was used.
You used two different types of SD rounds. (I've fired over 100 rounds of 165 and 180 gr HSTs in mind, without issue).

Try target ammo. I understand you want this to be a carry gun, 100%. But see if it's a SD ammo or the gun itself. Pickup a box of WWB...and put 100 rounds down range.

Once I switched target ammo...never a problem again. I've shot HSTs and Hydra Shoks before then, without issue.

My advice is to remove the ammo doubt, and try your different mags as well.
If it has feed issues with other target ammo, I agree...back to S&W.
One last thing... Are you 100% certain you're holding it right?
I can make mine cycle sluggishly if I purposely limp wrist it...
Have another experienced shooter fire the weapon.

I agree with dajogejr. Since the gun was new, did you clean out any packing gunk that might have been in the striker channel? If you did, did you leave the striker channel nice and dry? Oil there can and will cause issues.

Yes cleaned it. Lubed it. Shooter for over 25 years. Gun had a small burr where the firing is. Round cleared mag and JAMMED half way between ramp and extracter. Enough about that. S&W will fix it I'm sure.

Very few. Taurus and Pit Bull are a few...

Missed your point in the OP about S&W already having it in their possession, I thought you were looking for help instead of sending it in...my bad.

Default Failure to...

Failure to advance
failure to feed
failure to chamber
failure to fire
failure to extract
failure to eject, also, weak or erratic ejection.

All with factory ammo. Reloads don't count

Jam: something you put on bread.

Does this mean you can seat a loaded magazine and you are unable to work the action in order to chamber a round, at all?

Default Sounds like a new Frizzlefrazzle is needed

Only joking of course. It seems to me that you are not totally familiar with autoloaders, a product with human-like qualities.

An autoloader can work when it shouldn't, won't work when it should, can be very temperamental, highly selective in what it will eat and digest, refuse to pass what it has eaten, refuse to hit what you're aiming at, will eject shells straight into your face if you piss it off, can favor one shooter over another, usually likes to be held firmly and can blow up in your face under the right circumstances.

You need to work with a more experienced shooter to help troubleshoot what is or isn't happening.

I'm sorry. Not sure how much more info y'all needed. It's my 3rd auto load so maybe I do need some time at the range with someone to help me with it. Thanks for the input.
