I recently bought the H stamp trigger bar and SHB with the PC sear from G and R Tactical. Just to be clear, these are S&W factory parts, not Apex (not that there's anything wrong with that).
My 9C had the S stamped bar and rounded sear. While the trigger was OK for me, I thought I'd jump on some parts to see if I could improve the trigger without spending the dough an Apex kit costs (not that there's anything wrong with that).
At first I swapped out the SHB. I must have had the newer style already because this dropped right in. No dremel required. If you've seen the profile of the APEX sear, the PC one looks just like it with a flat "ramp" for the loop to ride on.
With just the block, I could not pull hard enough to release the striker. Seems like the reduction in material on the sear allowed the trigger bar to "bottom out" before pushing it up high enough to release. I then noted the loop on the H bar is bigger than the S. I'll make a separate post on this. So I swapped the trigger bar.
Bingo.
Now it has a nice clean break with no perceptible over travel. Trigger pull weight doesn't feel any different (I don't have a guage). I still need to polish the ramp the striker block rides on.
I also notice the reset is more audible and tactile. There was virtually none before.
So overall I'm pleased with the results so far. The trigger bar was $15 and $39 for the block. Considering the APEX sear alone is $40 alone, the new block allowed me to ditch the mag safety as well.
So yes, I could have done this myself following the directions from Burwell Guns (
S&W M&P Trigger Job), or bought an APEX kit but I prefer to use factory parts.
Now I need the new slide stop, and double for my FS.
