Whats my Shield worth, best guess?
I have a M&P Shield in .40 S&W I'm strongly considering trading in for one in 9mm for reasons of cost to shoot and standardizing my IDPA pistols as I plan on buying a full sized 9mm for use in IDPA.
It is of course used but in excellent condition with no scratches or other signs of abuse and shows basically no wear either. Fore warned is fore armed and I'd think it maditory to know at least my guns approx value prior to going to haggle on a new Shield.
Thanks,
Arthur.

Considering they go new for $379 where I work, I would say $300-$325 to a retail buyer is a fair price. Now if you're talking about trading it into a LGS, we would sell it for $300-$325, so we would pay $225-$250 for it. So if you want your maximum trade in value, sell it privately. The prices I have quoted reflect retail buyers, not those who get a LE/security guard/or military discount. GARY

What N4KVE wrote is pretty close to my experience as a customer.
Without knowing what an average LGS would sell a used Shield for, I was going to ballpark it's trade value of 60%-70% of what the **current** cost of a NIB in your area. If Shields in your area are still going for $400, you might get $240-$280 (trade).
Once you know the percentages, You can do the math.
This sucks for those who bought during the peak of its 'Hard to Find' popularity at $450-$500, but that's the risk people take when they 'Just Gotta Have It Now'.
Of course... If they're still very hard to get in your area and .40 is a popular caliber, you could definitely do better selling it yourself

Or maybe he could get lucky and find a 9mm barrel for it. I have come across a few over the past few months that were for sell. The worst part about then we're the proces. Geez it's worse than looking at the proce of .22lr

Getting real money out of a used gun of current manufacture is never easy!
