Default The more I shoot the Shield the more it shines

I bought a Shield 9mm with no safety not long ago. I am a gun person from way back. Have used and carried all manner of guns over the last 40 years. The Shield seemed to make sense and felt good. A guy let me shoot his a little and that lit the fire.

I was a little nervous because I have seen the negative reports about the Shield here and a guy I know had the magazine falling out problem with his 40 cal Shield.

I shot it some more today so it is at about 500 rounds now. It stovepiped one time so far but other than that is runs like a scalded dog and is accurate and easy to control.

Now if I can keep my middle daughter away from it I may have a keeper. I bought a Gunfighter, Inc kydex holster and it is proving to be great. I can't say enough good things about the Shield.

I couldn't agree more.
I've been a confirmed Glock guy for the past 20 years. I did own various S&W autos, all of them the old DA/SA type, and I never got along with that double action to single action transition. (As a side remark, I wish I had a couple of them back!)
After switching to Glocks and 1911's only in my collection, I didn't have any reason to try a new M&P Smith ... until the Shield burst onto the scene. I handled one at a gun shop and immediately loved the feel of the thin grip and its overall quality, sights and dimensions.
At my suggestion, an old shooting buddy of mine bought one and I shot it and knew I had to have one too. Part of my year-end bonus was spent on a Shield 9mm.
It has proven to be an amazing pistol. It goes everywhere with me I can legally carry. With the exception of two jams very early on, it has proven to be reliable, accurate and fun to shoot.
Several of my friends have bought Shields as well. Given its price point, I honestly think it's the best small combat pistol on the market, bar none.

I shot a 40 today for the first time and was surprised how well it shot. I did not like the thin grip but I don't carry. I have the 6906 and 6946 with the double stack grips. I am a big fan of the 3rd gen S&Ws. The new gun belonged to my grandson and he was thrilled with it since he carries. He shot it very well for a new gun. I'm just old and set in my ways I guess. I tried the M&P fs and the compact but I went back to my steel and alloy.

I'm pretty sure my Shield 9mm is very jealous. I'm kinda restricted when it comes to shooting right now, so I'm living vicariously through you guys, and my Shield feels like it's missing out. The Shield has turned into a family affair, as my younger brother now carry's a Shield .40 since his wife adopted his Bodyguard. Mine is safe for now since my wife carry's her Colt Mustang Plus II, and is quite happy with it.

Good Luck and good shooting.
