9c trigger question
Newbie here to this site as I just discovered it. In the past I have heard horror stories on the M&P 9c trigger, and how bad it is. I have a chance to purchase a 9c with a mfg. date of 9/2013, and the seller is telling me that this vintage has the new and improved trigger(like the Shield). The trigger doesn't feel to bad to me but I don't have another pistol to compare it to. Thanks much for any input on this subject!

And of course it must be true because "some guy" said it and posted it on the internet....
If I had a dollar for every time......

Here's the sad fact about M&P pistols. You can grab 4 pistols that were all manufactured within a month of each other and find different triggers on each. You could also find 4 identical triggers. People who insist that there aren't some M&P's with gritty triggers out of the box are just incorrect or very lucky.
If you found one with a good trigger, buy it and shoot the hell out of it.
ETA - I have an M&P9 an M&P9c, and an M&P Shield, all have stock triggers and are great! With that said, I did go through a few 9c's at the gun shop before I found one with a decent trigger.

Sometimes I wonder if some of those posts are pumped by those who hawk trigger kits.
Then again, I'm not gonna argue with those who feel the need to "upgrade", especially if it is for a race gun.

I have full size and compact M&Ps. One has a more tactile and audible reset than the other but they are both fully adequate for the range and self-defence. IMO neither are as good as the Ruger SR's or 1911's I've shot, but they are a long way from "horror story" status. Ask to use a snap cap, or dry fire any you're interested in and make up your own mind.

You've been spending way too much time around Glock fan boys. Even the older ones are acceptable.

First , welcome , but I don't understand if it feels good to you then what are you worried about ?
I have a 9c from around the same time & it has a good trigger.
In fact it is not really mine anymore the wife took it. She has put a lot of rounds through it & when I do get to shoot it, it still runs great.

Yes, that gun will have the newer "improved" trigger like the Shield.

i'm with this train of thinking. My only experience before getting my 9c are my .22's, a 60 yr old colt challenger and a new buckmark. Both their triggers obviously different then the 9c (a mid 2013 product), but i feel it's best for me to learn on it as is and become as good a shooter as i can before worrying about modifications, etc.
I'm not sure a different trigger (on its own) improves my stance, hold, reaction, and all other aspects of shooting a higher caliber handgun. When i'm 100% confident with mine, i then can decide if changes are warranted. No two performance cars drive the same, so while new parts can make it easier to drive, one still adapts to get the most out of that car. My newbie .02 of course.

That to me would be the ultimate pistol. A no mag, no manual safety M&P with a Ruger SR series trigger.

My 9c has a date of 11/13 and the trigger is great. If it feels good to you then get it and shoot it a lot. Welcome to the forum also.
