Default Am I the only one?

Am I the only one that couldn't wait to get the 9L CORE... Wouldn't go to the range until I had my optics on it. Did lots of research on which optics to get. And for my style of shooting (cough cough BUDGET) I went with the Burris FastFire II... It looks great on my weapon but unlike my AR and AK both with red dots which I love btw. I just can't seem to get it right with the CORE. Can't find the red dot fast enuff. Can't seem to dial it in... The list goes on and on... Anyhoo, I took it off the other day, went to the range and I love it! I finally hit what i was aiming at... So I think I'm selling the red dot. Putting on some hi-vis sights and rocking it CORE-less... So am I the only one that's not really feeling the CORE? OR...Maybe I need to invest in a different sight??

I've been shooting the Core for over a year. I have a Leupold Deltapoint and have no problems with target acquisition. I've never used a fastfire so I can't comment on the difference. I put over 50K rounds a year through it. Maybe you were meant to use iron sights?

I bought the 9mm Pro as it came with the fiber optic front sight. My LGS is a Smith and if I want to go with the red dot he can machine the slide for a Deltapoint.

If you get one of the sights that cowittness it is a lot easier to acquire the dot.

Ok after looking at this. I believe it's the FastFire II design itself. Online now looking at the Jpoint... Anyone ever used one? Likes dislikes???

ArmedVet,

I have an early FastFire, now relegated to a .22 AR clone and I much prefer a Trijicon RMR which is milled onto a Glock 17.

It took some time to transition to the red dot on the handgun, but I find it worth the time and ammo to make the transition. I find much easier hits at distance with it.

YMMV, good luck

That's your problem right there. You shouldn't need to find the dot - it should be there when you present the firearm on target. If it's not, it's just a matter of more practice.

When I first started using a dot it was slower than irons - I had to find the dot on draw, reloads, even lost it on some transitions. After 500 -1,000 rounds it will be second nature. I'd encourage you to through the learning curve before you switch equipment.

I went with the 4.25 version as it gets CC'd too. Optic is the trijicon dual - illumination with a green dot. Love that green. easy to see inlight to dark or in low light . No loss of dot like with the amber. Still working on getting the round count so its more natural. I have used red dots of hunting for close to 30 years but get this quickly to my vision naturaly has a ways to go.

I'd say it's the Burris. Had one on my 22/45, always seemed to have a hard time acquiring the dot. Switched to a C-more and it just shows up like it's supposed to be there.

I tried a Docter sight but took it off for the same reason. The Docter has a small window hard to acquire quickly. Since I took it off I've seen a JM video in which he said to be sure to bring the gun fully up to your sightline breaking your wrists fully in the process. He said that is the only way to get a repeatable sightline with no hunting. Many shooters myself included tend to drop your head to the gun which means the wrists are not "locked". I may have try the Docter again, in the meantime iron sights are faster.
