Default Best M&P?

I vote for the M&P45. I've had experience with the M&P9 but not the 40, and definitely prefer the 45. I found it to be more accurate and totally reliable.

Are we talking just hand guns or M&P rifles too? For hand guns, I love my 9c. For AR's.. that one is tougher. I love both my 15-22. But I dream about shooting my M&P VTAC II AR.

M&P 9mm PRO 5". Nice trigger, very accurate, has never had glitch. For a carry gun not sure about 40C or 9mm Shield.

My two FS45s have been far more accurate than the two FS9s, 9C and Shield 9 I owned.

I vote for the black one..

Seriously, I would say 40S&W - as you can easily do caliber conversions and have 3 guns in 1 - 40S&W, 357sig, and 9mm.

I would vote for the Shield myself.

It seems like compact CCW guns are all the rage right now and I have to believe the shield is one of the top market-leading models in this class of handgun. I don't have sales numbers to back this up, I am just basing it off the seemingly number of people I notice in various gun forums who are:

1) Asking questions about the Shield,
2) Saying they are thinking of picking one up
3) Saying that they never liked polymer guns until they held the shield
4) That they were always die-hard Glock fans until they got a shield for CCW and now they're considering other M&Ps

Of the 3 I've owned, the 9FS has been my favorite. It just goes bang every time .

Counting the 15-22 I just got, I have 5 M&P's. "Best" is the one I'm gonna buy next.

I'll refrain from listing the M&P's I have.... let's just say I have 'several'

I carry a Shield that I polished so it doesn't hang out of battery. It's a nice gun. It replaced the 3913 that had recoil spring problems and hasn't been proven since those were replaced. The Shield now has a rusty mag release problem so my 45c is doing holster duty.

Of all my M&P pistols, I really like my 45c the best. A 9c is sweet too, but the 45c is a touch bigger and a lot more powerful. it shoots well and carries well.

M&P rifles... I can attest they do multiply in the safe!!! My M&P10 is a cream puff to shoot with the Magpul furniture and as accurate as I could ask for.

Only have two M&P's. A .22 and a 5" 9mm PRO CORE. The CORE is more accurate than I'll ever be, a soft shooter (easily shot one-handed) and has never had an issue since I took it out of the box 600 rds ago. Can't say that about my 1911's (reliability wise) even though I really like them also. Love the looks & feel of the 1911's but when push comes to shove and I really need something to go bang. Give me my CORE.

I like the M&P 45 the best. I have not shot the 45c though. I suspect I would like it almost as much.

I started my handgun ownership with an HK USP Compact in 9mm, moved to a Glock 23 in .40, and now have the M&P .45 with the 4.5" barrel. (I've sold each previous gun to purchase the next one.) I owned the Glock the longest, but never truly liked the way it shot. Some of it was specific to Glock, but some of it, I believe, was specific to the .40 cartridge. I've read others report a similar experience as mine with the .40. Of course, it's quite popular and plenty of people love it/swear by it, so it's subjective. It was just never enjoyable to shoot. It may have been due to the more compact nature of the G23. I don't know.

When I took my M&P .45 to the range for the first time, it was hands-down the most pleasant shooting experience I'd ever had with a handgun. More accurate than anything else I'd shot, comfortable in the hands, and just a joy to use.

A friend was with me who was in the market for a new handgun; he rented a Springfield, and had recently fired a Glock, Ruger, and Sig - after shooting my M&P, he made his decision and purchased the M&P 9mm (4" barrel) the next day. He said the 9mm was just as enjoyable to fire as my .45 was but with a little less kick (and more capacity).

I am extremely happy with my 4.5" M&P .45. I am ok with 10 rounds of a larger caliber, I like the extra .5" barrel (both in looks and in feel), and I'm comfortable with it for personal protection etc. It gets my vote.

(I purchased mine apparently after S&W started using the shield triggers, because I absolutely love the trigger on mine.)
