Warren Tactical sights

*Apex striker block vs stock (Apex on RIGHT)

You can see how there is no ledge, its rounded off. This also comes with a lighter spring. Between this and the Apex sear the trigger pull is now awesome for a plastic pistol.

Apex sear (on top)

The Apex sear is the best bang for the buck if you are looking to improve your M&P trigger.

Have an APEX kit with Aluminum trigger on order, how did the swap out of parts and springs go for you? Was the rear sight a bear to remove? Or perhaps you had a gunsmith do the work.

Did it all myself. Have a sight pusher. They weren't too bad. I put the aluminum FSS kit in another pistol. Only hard time I had with that was getting the pin in for the linkage to the trigger.

I had more issues with the front sight than with the rear one. Overall, the sights were not much different from other dovetailed sights that I have changed over the years. The process seems to be somewhat exacerbated by the fact that the sides of the slide are not really flat and it is hard to comfortably clamp the slide down really tightly. The slide kept trying to move rather than the sight. I used a bit of heat from a mini-torch on the front sight to convince it that it needed to let go.

Be diligent in fitting the new sights so that you do not deform the edges when you push them in. I think that patience is the key.

I don't use the trigger slave pin to get the spring installed. I find it easier to put a small jewelers type screwdriver into the opposite side hole in the frame for the trigger pin hole, and hook the spring. I then pull the spring back and push the trigger pin in. The trigger spring will stay on the pin and it can be pushed further on from the top. It took a few tries but I found this easier for me than using the slave pin.

I have a Shield and the rear sight was a bear, on my gun. Heated the set screw and it came out easy, but the press fit of the dovetail was very, very tight. I have read some broke their sight pushers and others marred and damaged their slide with the sight pusher trying to get the rear sight off. I drove it off using a bench vice and large hammer and punch. Did some minor marring to the sight. It is almost as hard to get back on, and I lubed it. Others have had hardly any problems getting it off, lucky them.

Bob

Thank You, to all who have responded, I do have a Sight Pusher and have detail stripped Glocks and 1911's but no M&P's so hopefully this APEX upgrade will go fine.

Sorry did not intend to rob the thread.

Rob the thread? No way. Thats why I posted. To see if anyone had questions. Just came back from the range. Knocked the center out of the target. Great trigger. I like the sights too. With fiber optic sights its always a debate between little vs big fiber optic. The bigger you make the bulb the quicker it is to pick up but less precise.

I put the Apex Duty/Carry spring kit and sear in my Shield but left the S&W trigger spring in it. The S&W spring will give you a lighter trigger pull. After these parts were installed I had a 5lb 4oz trigger pull.

I also put the Apex trigger in mine, less take up and over travel, and lighter trigger pull weight. Mine now has a 4lb 4oz trigger pull with a nice crisp break and no grittiness.

Update: I forgot about the sights. I put a set of Ameriglo Pro I Dot Orange/Green sights on the Shield. I really like the orange front sight, very quick to pickup and align. I may widen the opening just a little on the rear sight. My old eyes like some daylight on either side of the front sight!!

Good point about the springs. I did the same.
