Default New M&P owner

I am new to the forum.

For my birthday I picked up a full size m&p .45.
I traded a few other pistols this past Friday to pick up the 9mm shield.

I am pretty excited as to the way both feel in my hands.

I have not fired either one, both are getting their virgin run at the hunt club firing range.

Big Joe

Welcome to the neighborhood friend! Lots of good advice and encouragement here. Can't wait to hear a range report on both guns. Your Shield will make a great ccw! I don't even realize I'm wearing most of the time. Pictures are always welcome!

The shield I picked is for CCW. I have had it on all day in the house and do not notice it.

BigJoe, welcome to the forum.

Recommend that you inspect, clean and lube your new firearms before going to the range.

Welcome from Mass, Joe.
You'll love the 45. I've got the 45c, among others , and its been my favorite.

You'll get lots of good info here.

Welcome.

My first M&P was the Shield and it impressed me enough to retire my Third Gen 6906 in favor of an M&P 9

Welcome, from Michigan!
Great choice in handguns.

I don't always carry a 9mm, but when I do it's a SHIELD

Congrats Devil Dog! My wife and I carry the 9mm Shield and we love it. We added the Lasermax Lasers to ours.

I own both a Shield 9 that I pocket carry in a DeSantis holster and a full size M&P 45. I have owned the 45 a couple of years now and it has taken some time to get use to the factory trigger but I have learned to shoot pretty good with it. I found the trigger on the Shield to be much better from the start although the slide is pretty tight when new and it does not like low powered ammo. I have found low charged bullets don't work well with my Shield.

Welcome from Wisconsin, Big Joe!

I'm determined to make the M&P45C my next firearm purchase. If I could find a good used full size M&P45 at a decent price I'd go for it. I can successfully carry my full size M&P40 & I see no reason why a .45 would be a whole lot harder especially in the winter months when sweatshirts rule the day & I alternate between my M&P40C & the FS 40.

one of my carry guns is the .45 FS, don't have the .40 FS, going to fix that today, the .45 is just wider, not by much though.
