Default what Grain does your 9mm shield like

this summer I decided the 40 compact was a little hard to conceal, so I convinced the wife I needed a shield for in the summer, I chose it in 9mm and in the summer when people are not wearing a lot of cloths the 9 will be just fine with plenty of stopping power. then back to the 40 for winter.
So my question is what grain bullet are you getting the best accuracy from in your 9mm shield.

124gr. The 115's shoot a little low.

I've put 115, 124, 135 FlexLock and 147 through mine. All worked just fine, although my range time is now 124 and my carry is 124 GDHPs. Seems to work just fine for me.

The Smith CS guy told me it was spec'd for 124gr. At the time you couldn't find 124 anywhere. I shoot 115 &124 now that they've gotten it fixed.

Same here....all 124 for range time, as well as 124 Federal HST for carry. The 124 is noticeably more accurate, and not as snappy as 115.

I had few FTE/FTF issues in a break in period with 115 gr ammo. I feel the most accuracy I'm getting from NATO spec WWB rounds. Not bad with Agulia 124gr (my main target ammo). Any 124/124 +p/135/135 +P/147 SD ammo I've tried was accurate. My SD ammo is 124 +P Ranger T-Series or HST. Not shooting anymore with 115gr at all.

I shoot 115gr for practice and Gold Dot 124gr for SD. Never had a problem with any weight 9mm ammo in the shield. It shoots everything just fine.

My wife and I haven't noticed any difference between the 115gr and the 124gr. We are planning to use the Shields as our EDC, and will most likely want to use 124gr, so we're going to experiment with different brands to see which we prefer.

I'm not concerned much with accuracy with a pistol only used for concealed carry. A minimum of four inch groups at 21 feet is okay with me. I don't expect these little pistols to be bullsye quality. So I am not too concerned with testing ammo for best accuracy.....I am more concerned with function, consistency, price, availability, etc.

Having said all that, I've used 115 gr FMJ Blazer Brass, 115 gr FMJ PMC, 115 gr FMJ TulAmmo Brass for practice and Speer Gold Dot 124 gr JHP for carry (plus some practice) in my 9mm Shield. The 115 gr bullets do print a bit higher than the 124 gr at what I consider a good "self defense" range of 21 feet, but not enough higher to be an issue. The Blazer Brass and Gold Dots might be a tad more accurate from my pistol than the others, but IMHO the difference is not significant. I have only had one FTF with the ammo above, and that was with another pistol.

Why not? I've been using it for practice because it's easier to find and usually a bit less expensive. I've not noticed much difference in where rounds print or the "snappiness" with the 115/124 bullet weights. I'd like to eventually try some 147 gr bullets in my Shield 9mm just to see how they work. When my PD used a 9mm we used 147 gr duty ammo, but 124 gr practice/qualification ammo. There was some difference at 25 yards, slow fire stages, but not enough to matter at the shorter distance and time stages.

I'm a little late to this thread but I was at the range yesterday and noticed something with the bullet weight and differences between my Shield 9 and my FS 9. I actually had both 115 and 124 with me and noticed that the Shield seemed to like the 124s where the FS seemed to like the 115s better. I was talking to the RSO after noticing it and his comment was that each gun is like a different woman, you have to find out what she likes. So, I guess that proves that size matters - even if it is just 9 grains difference.

The gun should function fine with any off the shelf ammo. The accuracy difference is almost insignificant when talking about a gun like the Shield. If precision groups are your goal, the Shield is the wrong gun. However, if defensive groups are your goal, then the mass of the bullet is user's choice and all of them should work reliably.

I've shot 100 124gn and 30 115gn. No problems with either. Accuracy about the same at 10 yards.

124 but only because the brass goes where its supposed to. Also the accuracy appears better but, it may be because I've used more of it.

Mine seems to favor 147's, specifically the 147 Xtreme over 3.5 grains of Titegroup. For carry I prefer the 124 HST.
