I just got one delivered today, haven't installed it yet. I'll let you know when I do and get a chance to shoot it.

Got the trigger in this morning and just got back from the range. I feel this is an improvement (not much because I had spent a bunch of time getting the curved FSS trigger "just right"). The thing I like the most is that the trigger has a positive overtravel stop, the original FSS trigger relied on the limits of the trigger bar travel so I think this will improve my split times, I'll find out at Tuesday's match. I've included a couple of pictures of the old and new, the overtravel stop is apparent on the new one. I've also included a couple of pictures for those who are considering this option. This is a metal trigger and as has been reported, the pin that holds the trigger bar to the trigger is very tight and difficult to drive. This one was no different, after a couple of whacks with the hammer, I didn't like the way the whole process felt, glancing at the vice just to the right of where I was sitting, the little light bulb went off, I put the trigger in the vice and tightened it enough to hold the trigger in place, then put the bar into place and the pin went in smoothly. Just a couple of cautions, make sure the jaws are parallel (no Harbor Freight vices for this job) and they are smooth. I did not have to make any adjustments to the trigger bar loop, apparently all the monkeying around I did when I put the original FSS trigger in was still correct.

Just to let all know, this is a FSS trigger. It only works with the FSS kit. But for those that have the original FSS trigger, this new flat trigger can be installed. Other than the flat shape, it is made the same as the curved FSS trigger. Just pull the curved trigger and install the flat trigger. The only issue is Apex is charging $80 for the trigger by itself. Pretty expensive just to see if you might like it.

Not entirely true, they also added an overtravel stop to the trigger so it has a more positive "stop".

And expensive is a relative term.

Can't go to the range today, the boss wants to go Christmas shopping so I have to wait until tomorrow. I'm really interested what my split times will be. I couldn't test that yesterday because like a dummy, I left my timer on the shelf in the gun room instead of putting it in my bag. I normally have splits right around 0.2 seconds but I have the feeling that this trigger will improve that. I'll see tomorrow.

I've got the new M&P 9L. It is a good trigger out of the box. I really want some feed back on the flat face for the M&P. In competition I've been shooting a CZ TS 9. It has a flat face trigger installed and I love it. I would consider switching to the M&P full time if it would have a similar "feel". Look forward to posts from those who are using it.

OK, just got back from the range, what I did was compare "Bill Drills" (Draw and fire 6 shots as fast as possible). between the old curved Apex and the new straight Apex. Typically my draw and first shot averaged around 1.3 and the splits were 0.19 -0.23, today with the new trigger, the draw and first shot were the same except for one that was 0.99 (I think I "creeped" on that one!) but my slowest split was 0.19 and I averaged 0.17. Enough of an improvement to satisfy me. Now to figure out a use for the Polymer FS trigger. Maybe I'll see if I can buy just the FS sear from Apex and put it in my 9c.

Yeah, some of these people on youtube need to go back and watch their own videos. I'm convinced that most don't. He even got the name wrong.

I'm glad you like the new trigger. Did you order just the trigger or the whole kit? I'm considering getting just the trigger.

Just the trigger, I had put the FSS kit in quite a while back. Didn't take any loop adjustment so it must be the same pivot point as the curved FS trigger. I got mine from M&P Aluminum Flat-Faced Action Enhancement Trigger | Two Brothers Tactical ($5 cheaper than Apex and I got free shipping, don't know if this is still in effect).

Another follow up with the answer directly from Apex. This was brought up by Bkreutz in post #9, about the over-travel stop. I had said the triggers were the same except the new trigger has a flat face. Bkreutz said not true as the new trigger has the exposed OT stop. Apex replied:

"We designed the flat trigger to have a sleek and distinctive look, so when designing the overall look, we moved the OT stop down a bit. This did 2 things, produced the distinct look we were going for and it moved the OT stop down lower on the frame to a different location on the frame. The OT stop on the curved FS trigger is at the top at the back. This new location on the flat trigger is neither better or worse in my opinion."

This says the new flat FS trigger OT stop is more visible, but does not work any better than the higher and less exposed OT stop on the curved FS trigger.

Since Bkreutz has now installed the new flat trigger in an existing FSS modified pistol, he should be able to advise if he found any difference in the amount of trigger travel after the break point (over-travel).

Since you posted this question and sent me a PM requesting that I answer this post less than 10 minutes after you posted it. I'm presuming you got offended by my contradicting your statement. I won't get into that kind of a discussion. I like the newer trigger, I have over 40K rounds with the old curved trigger and feel that the new one is better.
I'll leave it at that. I was trying to give first hand information, not getting into an internet contest. And don't send me any more PM's, they won't get through anymore. (ignore list)

Apex makes great quality upgrades but for some reason that trigger isn't much to look at imo . The angle or something about it just doesn't look natural and doesn't look like it would be comfortable . Hopefully it will be comfortable but visually it doesn't to me . Maybe it's just the angle of the picture/video or something .

I had the same thought but figured WTH, I'll give it a try. I thought the blade safety looked clunky, but I don't notice when shooting, I had the same thought about the straight trigger but I had no difficulty when I switched to it (I thought I would). A lot of shooters that I know like straight triggers, maybe that's why I was willing to give it a shot (pun intended). Ask around, maybe there will be someone local to you that has one and you can try it. I've spent a whole lot more than $75 on gun "do dads" that didn't work so this wasn't a big deal to me.

As far as how it looks, I don't care and I've found that no one else at the match does either, the only part of the pistol I look at regularly is the sight (or in my case, the dot)

Absolutely being functional is much more important then looks , totally agree .Being a competition shooter I'm sure it's a great trigger if it's got your stamp of approval 👍
At least I know I'm not to crazy since you had the same first impressions visually as I did with the trigger . Without a slight contour it just didn't seem to look comfortable at all but I'm sure Apex designed it that way for a good reason . I'm glad it's working out for you and would love to try one someday . Who knows maybe my pro 9 FS might see one someday .
75 dollars is reasonable I payed more for my sights lol .

Bkreutz

I was not offended by your post. I sent you a PM for an answer, since many members do not always recheck Threads, once they have posted in them. You seem to be offended by me sending you this simple message and you blocked me for THIS:

Then you state you don't want to get into an internet contest and post this:

I was only trying to get more information about the new flat trigger. But apparently I was not respectful or what ever, and you chose to ignore my question and take offense to my PM. Blocking me would not matter, do you feel you are punishing me by blocking me? Have I ever PMed you before? No this was my first PM to you, and my LAST. I would not want to get you further upset. I will be able to get the answer from another Forum member. But thanks again for your courteous and fast response.
