Default m&p performance center ported

I'm sure this question was asked before but I needed some information on shooting lead through ported barrels, is it ok? I recently purchased the Smith and Wesson 40 L performance center ported and I have an abundance of wheel weights I melt down for casting.can I use it in this firearm. Thanks.

You can shoot lead bullets in a ported gun. However, if the lead is too soft or too hard it will lead up the barrel and the porting. Ideally, the lead alloy should have a hardness specifically for that caliber.

Unfortunately there is no quick answer. You need to study the subject, in depth, before you can expect a satisfactory result.
