Default M&P 9mm FS, is this normal?

Picked up my new 151215LE M&P 9mm today. I like it. This will be my 5th M&P pistol. All the others were in .45 acp. The trigger on this one is the best of the bunch. I would say about equal to a standard Glock trigger. This is the first M&P I've had where I have no desire to mess with the trigger. If it shoots good I will likely retire my 1911 as a duty gun and start carrying this. Anyway, while doing a quick clean and lube prior to it's first range trip I noticed a recess, or bevel, at the lower part of the firing pin hole on the breech face. A look at the fired case included with the gun clearly shows primer flow.

Now, this is not something I'll get too excited about as long as the gun performs and doesn't blow primers. I'm more curious than anything else and wondering if this is normal for the 9mm M&Ps or not. My .45 M&Ps don't have this feature. A couple pics below.

I was curious about this as well when I looked at it in depth. I googled "M&P teardrop firing pin hole" and several threads popped up stating it was normal. I'm having issues with light primer strikes on mine. I have had 12 in about 600rnds over the past 2 weeks. Once you get it out and shoot it, report back on how it went as I am curious if mine is one of few, or if it is an issue in the new LE model.

Thanks ssdrew. That answers my question. Guess I should have done a google search myself. I got into the safe and took another look at my .45 M&Ps. They do not have the teardrop shape. Probably don't need it because of the lower pressure round.

I'll do a shooting report soon.
