Range time with my new M&P 40 compact
After a bad experience with a LEO trade in from Buds, I purchased a new M&P40c from a local gun dealer. I picked it up last friday and finally made it to the range tonight. I was very pleased with it. I used the same ammo I had issues with in the used gun, and I used 2 of the same Magazines(that I bought new to go with the used gun) I had 2 Failure to feeds out of 150 rounds. Both of them I blame on myself.
I also finally got a chance to use the Storm lake 9MM conversion barrel. I ran 50 rounds through it, without a single failure to feed. The gun shoots very nicely and I am so pleased with it. I don't see a need for a trigger kit on it at all.
Matt

Nothing wrong with that, Matt.
Welcome to the Forum.
My 40c was the first M&P, then came the 9c and 45c.
Love them all.

Nice shooting and glad to hear your Storm lake didn't have any issues thinking of getting one. I did the same as Johnmuratore 40c 9c 45c

Thanks guys. I was really pleased with how the gun performed. I have rented several 40S&W guns at the range and the compact just felt like "The right gun" when it was in my hand. Lots of my friends were pushing glocks to me when I decided to move from 9MM to 40 for my EDC, and I just couldn't get comfortable with them. This gun felt right from the first feel in my hand to the first hole in paper.

Cool Matt. I like my CDNN/LEO trade-in 40c very much and even got a full size M&P40 to compliment it. Great carry pistol for me, seems to check all the boxes I had to replace the S&W4043 I carried. Considering a conversion barrel (9mm) but haven't gotten one yet. Nice pics.

Welcome from FL.
I'm a 'tard, I bought a FS 40 1st, then a 40c. I find I carry the .40c the most.
Then I screwed up and bought a revo, well 4 revos later.........

Thanks guys. Ginzo and lhump1961 thanks for your service.
Ginzo, my next purchase(probably in a couple of weeks) is going to be a .357 snubby. Not sure which one yet. But I'm jonesing one bad.
How do you like the .357? I've considered buying that conversion barrel as well, but I've heard in the compact the kick is pretty tough to take.

Thanks, the service was my pleasure.
I have one on layaway as we speak, 649-3.
I already have a 638 humback, a 4" security 6 in .357 and a 2.75" speed six, stainless in .38 sp. It's an addiction.
Here is the 649-3:
A lot of guys like the conversion, I'm good with .40 and I have the .357 mag in a revo.

Hope you don't mind if I throw in on this. Anything in .357 short barrel will be a handful...certainly not unmanageable but a handful none the less and some more than others.
As for revolvers I reserve full power loads to the 4" and 6" guns which for me means 586's. I love the 2 1/2" and 3" guns but usually go with something more "medium" or even less when shooting .357 in a snub and really like a .38+P in my K frames. You can't beat a 4" L frame (model 586/686) for all around use IMHO with the 6" easily handling any load you choose but reserved for range fun and perhaps some hunting...mostly just great fun! Snub models in .357 for me mean the 19, 13, 65, 66, 586 (if you can find one), and 686. The N and J frames are great as well but I don't own any and can't speak for them.
The M&P .357c is no different...full house loads will really bark...more than the .40c. I load my own stuff so I can have a variety of choices to suit the application but, like the snub revolvers, I choose to not run loads at the top of the chart.
.357 in revolver or auto? Easy...revolver all day every day! (But I'm keeping my M&P as well! ) Here's a 2 1/2" 686 just to post a pic!
Let us know what you decide and happy shooting!
