Default Talon grips for my Shield 40, which one?

I'm thinking I'm gonna get a set of Talon grips. I can't decide between the textured and the rubber ones. Which do you all have? Why did you choose it and are you happy with your decision?

Thanks

Bob

I'm the most indecisive person. I just ordered the rubberized for my 45c on Friday. Called them on Saturday and left a message to change it to granulate. I still don't know what I want.

Talons are fantastic, and either one works well, so it's up to personal preference. I currently use the rubber grips on my Glock 30SF and had them on my Shield as well. The rubber grips work very well for carry, being far less abrasive on your skin when carried IWB than the granulate version. The granulate grips provide an extremely good purchase on the gun, but some find the texture a bit to aggressive, both on their hands and their sides. The granulate also is more prone to grabbing your cover garment. One fix that calms down the granulate is simply taking a piece of fine sandpaper and gently working the surface. The grip is still very good, but the aggressive nature of the grip is reduced, making it much more comfortable to work with. Considering the Talons add nothing to the size of the gun, they are an extremely good addition to your firearm, adding security without adding size.

Good Luck and good shooting.

I received the granulate by mistake, and they sent me the rubberized ones before I sent the others back, so I was able to compare the two. I really like the rubber ones better, didn't like the gritty sandpaper feel of the granulate. Shot my Shield for the first time with them on this weekend, and they worked great. YMMV.

If you have roughneck hands, then you can survive the sandpaper grips. Everyone else should stick with the rubber ones!!

The granulate is like an 80 grit sandpaper. They are rough and if you shoot a lot it will wear your skin down. Think what that will do to your holster, clothing, and skin, if using it on a carry gun. Granulate for a range gun and rubber for the carry gun.

I wasn't sure which was better when I ordered grips for my Shield, so I ordered a set of each. I originally put on the granulated which were awesome to get a purchase on the pistol. The problem was that my t-shirt would get snagged on the grip when I would draw. Bad! I switched to the rubberized and that worked better for me. No snags! Not as nice of grip as the granulate but better than the factory grip.

Talon grips are legit. I have the rubber style grip on my SD9VE posted on the Sigma/SD page if you want a closer look. Can't go wrong with them on your pistol. I kind of like the M&P grips as is, but the Talon's look great on them too.

I have the rubber ones on the Shield and several other pistols as well, one is used in competition. Similar feel to the Hogue grips I have on other guns. I was concerned that the granular ones would be too abrasive for me. Surface prep is very important for lasting adhesion. I used a hair dryer to contour them for the best fitting possible. Great company to deal with and very personable.

Love the granulated ones. Hell of a grip. They also have them for your AR grip. Have one on my M&P 15-22.

Rubber for me, I carry IWB and the "sand paper" is just that, good for grip, but not so much against the skin (for me anyway)

I had the granulated grips on my M&P shield 9 and at first I loved them and still like them but like the other guy said, they're like 80 grit sandpaper and after a couple outings at the range my hands are smoother than a baby's backside. I peeled them off and maybe I'll give the rubber ones a shot soon.
