I traded for a nice M&P9c today. It came with case and all the stuff. This one does not have a thumb safety. It has green dot sights. Are those factory, or were they painted?
I'm glad I got the manual. It looks like the takedown procedure is a little different.
This is my first M&P, I sure like the look and feel of it. Can't wait till I can get it to the range.

I'm sure they were painted...are you certain they aren't fiber optics? If it's paint it definitely didn't come that way.. Anyway, congrats!

Not fiber optic, not glow in the dark either, just green. like the smiley face. Which is the face I have now cause I like this pistol.

I have a 9c and love it.
The sights come from the factory white. Some of the guys who have had the white dots fall out have redone them with Testor's model paint and had good results with a couple of coats.
Did you get the 3 backstraps also?

I painted the front sight dot on my 9C green. I find it doesn't bleach out in the sun as bad as white and it is brighter than red.

The M&P takes down as easy as any pistol on the market once you've done it a couple of times.

Pardon me for lots of questions. I haven't seen too many of these pistols out there, so I'm just noticing things, like the green sights, that I didn't realize were not standard.
Looking at auction photos on Gunbroker, I noticed I have some chromed parts that I don't see on other guns. My slide release buttons, take down lever, ejector, and the head of the guide rod, all look shiny chromed on my gun. They don't look like painted parts, or worn. Just shiny chrome. Could this be some distributor model?
If I can get my daughter to help, I'll try to get pics up. When I try, they don't usually work.
BTW, take down is pretty easy on this, though it did remind me of my old P series Ruger.

Not likely. The PO stripped the finish and polished it out. Pics would help.

Did you get the backstraps, and test fired case too?

Once you fire your 9c you will like it a lot. I have had mine since March and have shot about 500 rounds with it and carry it often.

Take down is pretty much the same as any other gun. Just dry fire after flipping the lever and slide the slide off. You can take it down without dry firing it but to me that's too much work.

I got 2 backstraps, and a fired case in an envelope dated 5-17-2012.

I still don't have any pics, but I did get to the range today. I had the 9c, another S&W, and a CZ. Of the 3 pistols, the 9c really stood out. I think it has the nicest trigger of the bunch. Also, groups at 10 yards were good with all 3, at 25 yards, the 9c out shot them all.
As many of you have told me to expect, the M&P 9c is a sweet shooting gun.

I have the 40c, older, with a new style sear block housing, Apex DCAEK kit and TruGlo TFO sights. A few thousand rounds later, still love it.
GF has a new model 9c. Hundreds through hers....box stock.
Even my die hard Glock friends admire and like our pair of SW compacts.
