I shot my three month old M&P last night in a match. This morning the front night sight was dying. Within a couple of hours it was a day sight.

Has anyone else had this problem recently?

Those are made by a vendor, not by S&W. Call S&W and ask nicely if they will replace the sights. I bet they will send a pre-paid shipping label and replace the sights at no charge.

I e-mailed S&W and they're sending a pre-paid shipping label.

That's more than I can say for les Baer. I had to ship a brand new Custom Carry back to them on my dime for problems that it should have never left their shop with in the first place.

Do they want the whole pistol or just the slide?

If its just the slide, its a little easier on you when the package is returned. A whole firearm would require adult signature at the home or a trip to the shipping location to pick it up. Not a huge deal, unless you are farther away from a corporate main hub.

I asked them in the few back and forth e-mails we had, but they didn't address that. When they e-mailed the label to me all their instructions were do's and don'ts for shipping a firearm, so I shipped them the whole "product." (to use their terminology) 😉
