Used Shield
I am new to this site. I have been looking hard at the shield for my next gun. I have found a used on that the person says has around 1500 rounds through it. Should I be concerned with the round count?
It has Trijicon HD sights and a IWB holster. The person will sell it for $400 this weekend since he will in my area. Thoughts on this??
Thank you!

Its just getting broke in good!!! Those sights are around $150 depending on color. Sounds like a good deal if the gun has been maintained properly.

Mine is at 3K rounds, and just now settling in good.
It may be time for a new recoil spring assembly. I swapped mine out around 2K.

First Welcome to the group.. Great people here to help! The SHield is a GREAT gun!
IMO at 400$ for a used Shield with 1500 rounds, even with the sight is high. I just bought a Shield New 2 weeks ago $339.00 so if the sights are 150$ you get a New gun for a few $$$ more, I bet you can find the sights for 100 $ or less .. I would try a few Gun shops and see if they have the Shield on sale like mine did,,,, I would not pay 400$ for a used Shield, But that is me Good luck

You won't find those sights that cheap when new. The orange is more expensive than the yellow. I have 3 sets of them.

Pass on it! Buy one new. you will have the satisfaction of a new gun, lifetime time owners warranty and after you have put some rds. down range you can shop for new sights if you're still so inclined.

Changing it fixed a problem I was having, so it must have been time.

I'm thinking about selling my 40 shield since I found out the chamber isn't fully supported but I don't have night sights I was thinking about putting some on. Who is this traveling gun salesman? You can always negotiate.

The best price I have seen in my area is $385. I have no problems with used guns but I like to have a warranty on ones that I carry and shoot a lot. You all have helped. I'll pass on it.

Just a thought. I would be very careful buying a gun from a stranger. It is always possible that it might be stolen.

As to price, I did not comment. I don't buy used guns. I prefer to be the first owner for warranty issues. Anything that can break, will break, when I pick it up. Been that way all my life.

Used Shield
$400 for a used Shield with T Night sights is a toss up. 1500 rounds thru it means it's not even broken in yet! I have a .40 cal Shield and I've put about 2K rounds through it with not one problem. When mine was new it cost me $375, put a set of Trijicon night sights on for about $125... My advice, buy a brand new Shield, either 9mm or my preference, 40 Caliber. For the price diff you'll be happy you did! Just my $.02 worth!!

I'm with many of the others. Give it a pass and buy new. Shields are pretty great little guns, but they are also little machines and not all are perfect. Why does this guy want to sell it? The Shield fulfills its intended purpose so well that I would be suspicious without knowing the answer.
$400 for a good running Shield with Trijicon HDs and a holster that you like isn't a bad deal, IMO, but if the gun turns out to have problems, or you don't love the holster the deal sours. I have the Trijicon yellow/green HDs on both my M&Ps and love them, ~125 on Amazon but you will probably need to pay for installation. And holsters run the gamut price wise, but if you don't love it, it's worthless.

Unlike a number of other members, I would see how firm they are on the price....if you can settle around $350.00 or so great grab it!!
The sights and holsters are nice extras...

I thought the S&W lifetime warranty is transferable from owner to owner.
I was wrong. It is original purchaser only. They do have a good CS reputation and will work with you on most issues.

I checked on S&W's website the warranty is only for the original buyer.

He originally started much at $480 which included 300 ball rounds. The IWB holster is a Kingtuck. He went to $425 without ammo and is now at $400. He seems like he needs to sell it and has posted on another forum to make an offer.
I personally don't need the ammo unless I could get it really cheap. As you all stated, the Shield is not one that is sold often because most people really like them. I think I will pass unless he drops the price to $350-$375. I like to idea of having a warranty.

Look online...prices start at $333 at a lot of places, some with free shipping or very low cost shipping. It has to be shipped to a FFL but unless the business is in your state you pay no sales tax. Check out Gun Search | Wikiarms AmmoEngine. Just search for S&W Shield for sale | Gun Search | Wikiarms AmmoEngine
