S&W 9MM compact barrel available
For those of you looking to convert your M&P 40C to 9MM, Midway has genuine S&W 9MM barrels in stock at a very reasonable price. I'm sure they won't last long!

You're right, they're already sold out. Thanks for the heads up.

I was able to get one. You have to be fast and have stuff you want to buy already on your shopping cart. I had and item in my cart that gave me free shipping on my order. The FS barrels are also available.

If you missed out this time around, you can backorder the compact barrel. Unfortunately you can't backorder the FS barrel.

I got an email saying my backordered one has shipped. I think it was about exactly two weeks since I ordered it. I look forward to trying it out.

Two weeks? I had one on backorder since last July. It just shipped today.

There was a time recently when S&W was back ordered on barrels, especially compact ones. They had barely enough to put in their new pistols with very few spares. Least ways that's what they told me when I tried ordering directly from S&W as well as firearms stores with internet sales.

I got my M&P 9c barrel yesterday. I am not sure what to think. I have read that others have had good results by putting these in a M&P 40c, but the fit leaves something to be desired. There is definitely more side-to-side slop in the fit, with the narrower barrel extension of the 9mm. I cannot be certain of there is no risk to putting premature wear on something.
I don't plan to shoot it. It would just be for ammo emergencies. In fact, I may just sell it and use the money toward the purchase of a smaller 9mm like a KelTec or SCCY.

Hundreds, maybe thousands of people have run 9 barrels in 40 slides with no issues. But you will have no problem selling that barrel. You might even make some money on it.

I understand that many people have done it successfully. That does give me a great deal of confidence that it will work. I just wonder about long-term effects of firing it like that a lot.

Well then, maybe a Storm Lake barrel is in your future. Do your research, not always plug n play.

Yeah, I sometimes obsess about details. I have about 300-400 rounds of 9mm ammo sitting around. When I rack the slide, the barrel ends up in the center. It is free to move a little, but it ends up near the center, pretty consistently. Maybe there is nothing to be concerned about. I will try it out and see what accuracy I get. Maybe I will love it.

I think it very likely that a Storm Lake 357 SIG barrel is in my future.
