M&P fs finger rub?
Is anyone else bothered by the middle finger on your shooting hand (for me that's the right) getting rubbed raw by the underside of the trigger guard on the full size M&P?
I use the same grip on this as I do my 1911s and Shield. I've been shooting a looong time and this is the only gun I've experienced this on. Thinking of putting some kind of tape on the underside of the guard as I'd rather not modify it permanently.

Honestly I sanded it.
No regrets. I just need to touch it up with some high grit sand paper to make it look good as new.

I tried tape, problem was that it make the rubbing worse because it built up the area that was rubbing. I ended up modifying both of my competition pistols. I still ended up with a "U" shaped callous on my strong hand middle finger. You could try a glove, didn't work for me but it may for you.

OP, it may be a very minimal change, but would trying a different backstrap tweak your grip just enough that your finger would not be rubbing in that same (now sensitive) spot?
I haven't had any trouble with my 9c or my new fs 9 when shooting up to 200 rounds or so at a time, so just thinking out loud on a possible fix

I found it was the very outer edge of the trigger guard that was rubbing my finger raw. I took some sandpaper and knocked it down a bit...no more rubbing.

sometimes a new pair of shoes will give you blisters too if you wear them too much to start with.
A new contact point will toughen up with time and patience.

Interesting problem. I don't have this issue with any of my M&Ps. I'm curious to see what makes it better.

No problem with mine. Guessing it must be different for every hand.

I use 150 grit wrapped around a sharpie and go at it for about 20 minutes, remembering to radius the sides as well. Then go to 220 grit for the same amount of time. Then spend 5 minutes with 600 grit for finishing. Then, use a dremel and felt polishing pad and some rubbing compound and buff it out. Looks factory when done. No more hurting. I can tell a HUGE difference now that I am used to it when I hold an unmodified gun. Mine is so much better.
Oh, and take the mag release out first.
There is a video on YouTube of the process that I followed.
Good luck.

Thanks for all the great replies. To address some things: When I first got this I experimented with all the backstraps and I get the best fit using the small (I wear medium size gloves if that gives an idea of my hand size). Since the age of 12, when I learned to shoot, threw today the rest of my years (58) the 1911 has been my preferred pistol-I've used early Wilson customs in competition and custom Novak Colts for sd duty. I've had a 59, Browning HP, various Sigs and a few Glocks. I still have a couple 1911s, this FS and a Shield.
No other pistol bothered me like this, especially during high round count classes or running various drills.
I'm most intrigued by what smolck mentions and will decide this weekend which route to take. I do appreciate the ideas and suggestions.
While I mostly hang out in the round gun sections you guys in here do a great job of continuing the helpful attitude that is pervasive on this forum.
