There seems to be quite a few complaints about how hard the Shield is to rack.

I have not tried this, so I don't know if this is the greatest thing since slide bread, or just a gimmick, but for those of you who have a real struggle with the Shield's Super tight RSA, you may want to consider this:

Yup... about the cost of a mag, but if it works...
I may get one, simply because it would work for easier 1-handed racking.

I just got my Shield a few days ago. No issue with pulling the Rack back! IMO Do know if that adapter would help! Would be interested to hear if it works!

It seems that NDZ only supplies accessories that they receive requests for (like the Shield etched rear slide plate).
Perhaps if more people went to their site and asked for the charging handle, they'd offer it.

I'd have to see on in person but from looking at the pictures it looks like it might be a real side gouger for a concealed carry pistol! Fortunately for me I don't have any trouble racking the slide.

You can get them double like that or single that can be used right or left. Race guns use them some and Carver Customs here in Jacksonville sells them. I was going to put one on my 9 Pro when I had the scope on it. Hard to get a grip with a pistol scope covering the whole slide. Don

Just buy some gun tape from Talon Grips and put it on the slide. It makes a world of difference. A 1" by 4" strip is only $1.99 (plus shipping I imagine) so it may be worth a try before getting to carried away with more expensive options.

Just use the gun for a while and not only will it break in, you will simply become more adept at racking its slide.

I can now rack my slide with the thumb and index finger on the back of the slide and my 40 only has 600 rounds fired. Sure was tight at first. Don

Hold the pistol in your right hand raised to your belly and hold it close to the body. Reach over with your left hand to grab the slide (avoiding the ejection port if possible) and push with your right hand and let go. It's a heck of a lot easier than slingshoting some pistols.

What I don't get is how nearly everybody in videos easily racks a semi pistol. I think they are doing it without the springs installed or something because it looks so easy. I use the above method a LOT. I'm no weakling, but racking some pistols is murder.

The above method works good and I used it a few time when the Shield was new. I recommend turning sideways so the gun points down range and the guy in the lane beside you might just get a little nervous. Don

Solved my hard racking shieldproblem today. I don't know why
I didn't think of it before. Sold that puppy, broke even, and bought another M-19 with proceedes. I feel much better with
wheels under me.

After over 300 rounds through my Shield 9 I still could not lock it back without using a bench to push it against. Finally I purchased some GT-5000 grip tape. Amazon has it for $6.99 here.
After making a pattern with masking tape I cut it to size and stuck it on with no problems. It completely solved my problem. Now I can lock it open with no problem.

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who finds it tough to rack! I'm 68 so I figured I was just losing strength in my hands and arms. I kinda figured it would loosen up after a few hundred rounds.

Well youngster (me at 72) I was considering selling mine and getting one of the new Glock 43 single stack pistols. But now I am finally totally happy with mine after adding the grip tape to the slide. I have been happy with shooting it (after I added the Apex carry kit and trigger along with Talon Grips) and concealed carry but the racking problem was really demoralizing. S&W should sell the Shield with the tape already on it since they can't or won't do anything about the racking difficulty.

I have some handi-racks.com They work and I don't have to hang anything on the gun.

The handi-racker is a very good option. This is simply one more option, for those with medical limitations, that might not want to carry the handi-racker around.

and... as mentioned, it allows easy 'One Handed' rack (boot, belt, hem) operation.

It was hard for me at first, but after the first 300 rounds it got easier. However its also the technique that you use that makes a difference. The sling shot method is conciderbly harder, Hence why I use the palm of my left hand while pushing the firearm forward with my right in a simultaneous motion.

I have never used the sling shot method, always the palm of my left hand and push with right and still had a very difficult time with it. I have tried everything mentioned above and the grip tape on the slide is the best for me TimmyRay.

Hope it works, I hate throwing away 30 bucks

LOL... That's how I feel about it too. I've wasted more than that on 'gun stuff', but some people seem to even balk at possibility of wasting $20 on Talon grips.
